Tyre sizes

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a new LCI M2, Just wanting to know whats the biggest size tyres people are running?

I have a set of aftermarket wheels in a 19x9.5 19x10.5.

I've heard that a 255/35 front and 275/35 rear is about as big as you can go ?

The Dinan S2 M2 is running 265/285 front/rear. Their wheels have the same dimensions as yours.

According to the Apex wheel option chart, you will need a 5MM spacer up front, and negative camber ( Camber Plates ) to run that size wheel and tire in 18" width. Would like to know if the Dinan wheels would need camber and spaces too. I would like to stay away from camber plates if possible.

Dinan does not apply any camber or spacer running 265f/285r. No need of paAcer for 19inch but it u r doing 20' that will give u a different story. U still will not need spacer but will need the camber. This is by all means that u r running on stock suspension setting. If u r running on lowered suspension, it will depend in the spring diameter of ur coilover and also how low u r planning to go with.

I don't understand why one wheel manufacturer requires camber and plates, and another one doesn't for the same wheel set-up.

I'm not sure why either, but what I know about Dinan, they do a lot of research and develop on what will work for a particular car. They also recommend you use a specific type of tire that will work with their wheels.

When I had my M235i and was researching wheel & tire packages, I noticed the setup Dinan had was much larger than I thought the car could handle. I believe it was 235/265 combo. The set fits nicely, looking flush and tucked in. No camber plates.

Yes Dinan does tons of research for developing their tune for specific car models. I believe there r ppl out there if u go on Wheel and Tyre thread and running on aggressive tire settings on stock suspension setting. Ratio of front and back tyre sizes that are coming from the factory is actually the “ideal” for driving dynamic according to manufacturers definition. Changing tire specs, especially going larger width tyres for rear could bring better traction at straight line but if front and rear size ratio change will affect how M2 oversteer characteristic and tightens at exiting corners working with logics set in LSD. LSD will do change its calculation at milliseconds and will affect the general driving characteristic from factory setting if u change the tyre spec to your favor. But BMW did develop the car based on the factory spec 245/35/19f and 265/35/19r.

Dinan suggest to go with MPSS or P Zero Corsa on their S2 rim and tyre package. Even there are size specs and road index exist to meet certain tire spec desired, they do differ from one another. Meaning that one tyre manufacturer's certain tyre size could actually be different in their diameter from the another tyre manufacturer's same tyre size. Not to mention that it will be "very different" (of course not) but could bring the result of fitment in certain vehicle when you go very aggressive on its set up where small diameter changes can result in rubbing..

For the record, I love the tire & wheel combo on the stock M2, and won't change a thing when I get mine.
