Recommendations on Front Bumper
Okay, here's the deal. I hit a huge Minnesota style pothole in a dark parking lot over the weekend. It was so deep that the bottom of the car hit the pavement. In doing so, it smashed by carbon fiber front lip, ruined by clear bra, scuffed the bumper badly, smashed the plastic under carriage, and slightly dented the bumper near the driver's side wheel well.
My insurance wants to repair the existing bumper versus buying a new one. What do you guys think? I hate the thought of them repairing it and having to respray the bumper to match the silver stone paint. Should I get a new one and pay the difference? Any ideas on a cool aftermarket bumper replacement? Thanks for your help guys! |

get a new one!
What insurance company are you under? I only ask as on a prior car, i hit a paint can on the freeway which caused a small crack. The insurance company replaced the entire bumper with no issues. |

Oem doesn't come painted from factory. I've dealt with a few bumper replacements over the years (various manufacturers). Insurance companies will usually replace entire bumpers based on where the damage is (ie corners are tougher to fix)

i highly doubt you need a new bumper. post a pic. color wont be an issue, its at the bottom, isn't it?
stop over-complicating these things. the body shop can repair underneath then reclear the entire bumper. end of story |

Meanwhile you lost 10% of resale value because of the accident reported on car fax. Sometimes reporting an insurance claim isn't worthwhile.

The bumper as stated in my first post is damaged on the bottom and creased badly by the wheel well on the driver's side. |

If your that concerned just pay the difference for an OEM bumper. But the insurance will always go aftermarket

I was also curious about other "cool" front bumper replacements other than OEM that might be on the market? |
