Giving m240i wider tires

I have a 2018 M240i I just got, and I want to start tuning it. However, I feel the stock tires can't handle the power. So, I want to upgrade the wheels and tires first but want to make sure they will fit. I was looking at the Apex VS-5Rs wheels in 18x8.5 and running 255/35 or 245/35, preferably in a 255 square setup. I have seen the Apex wheels fitment guide on their website that says you will need a minimum of 5mm spacers and 2 degrees of negative camber to fit them. Is that just the minimum I will need? I don’t know much about tires, camber, alignment, or anything of that sort, so I want to make sure that will work on my car or what I will need to make it work. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

245 square is fairly common and you will find many examples in these threads. 255 square is more difficult. I know it is "only" 10mm, but these cars have very tight clearances, especially in the front. Expect with 255s to have to roll fenders or add camber plates - yes you might get lucky and by random luck get a combo that just works with stock - but I would not bet money on it.

NP. My car is mostly stock and I find it adequate and plenty of fun. More tire is always gonna be better of course but you have to work with what you got. If I wanted to fit huge tires this would be the wrong car.

That said, if your car is not xDrive and you want to make a lot more power, you best not go square and you can fit 265s maybe even 275s in the back where you need them. If you want a road track car you will need to invest in suspension as much as engine in any case.

Cheers!

You need a qualified shop to help you with this. The number of ways to spend money without achieving your goal are endless.

Where are you in Jersey?
