Just cuz you have a BMW and are on a BMW forum doesn't mean you have to be a BMW fanboy.

You can blow up any motor, however, the 7 bolt motors were more pronounced with crankwalk problems than the 6 bolt motors.

In my opinion the Evos are great cars if you can follow one basic rule. Either keep the car simple with mods or pay to turn it into a race car. The in the middle stuff doesn't work on that car without it turning into an unwanted money pit and headache.

Like I said when I posted on page one. Its subjective. Do you have such a need for attention that you post a thread asking others what car you should choose? And then argue with everyone who says anything bad about the Evo?

Seems like you've made your choice. Now go test drive them. And switch if it seems right.

For the record. I know a guy making 800 awhp on a IX. He says the car runs half the time. So he's scaling back. A lot.

Point is. Yes you can make insane power. But if you're trading down to an Evo you might as well go with the IX because the X is too heavy and sucks.

Besides, you don't deserve your ride if you're asking questions you already know the answers to.

You ask for opinions, you get them. Don't be so thin-skinned; that's what forums are all about.

If you can't stand the heat, don't post...the flames and the flamers will burn you to toast if you can't take stuff in stride.

I'm glad I bother you...

The clear and simple answer is absolutely not. You will be giving up a lot in creature comforts, you will miss the torque because with a big turbo your powerband will suck and there is no way you will use that power in the higher revs in an EVO especially if you are mainly using the car on the streets. The car is loud; gets incredibly bad gas mileage and at that power level is unreliable. I couldn't do it; i've been there done that and it would be very tough to go back.

Last but not least; how are you expecting to make 520 WHP on pump gas in an EVO X for $5K? Please list all of your mods with prices because after all of the supporting mods, turbo kit, tuning and precautionary mods (clutch and so forth if you are smart) there is no way you will be within 5K.

BTW, buying a used EVO is like buying a ticking time bomb; this is fact.

The kit $,4,500 with injectors, then Adding a act clutch, and the car has the rest of the supporting mods. All in all should cost me 6k and I'm done that's with the install, tune, and parts.

LOL!!! You're alright!

Sometimes it helps to get opinions to seemingly innocuous questions to affirm one's own feelings.

I was staring hard at evo X and subie STI's as well until I read reviews on how Mitsu went backwards on the X to add a little more civility (read: slow down the performance with a heavier car filled with sound deadening material) to capture a broader market (read: families)...like others said, IX was a better tuner for performance, but light on fit and finish...and longevity (read: rustbucket "Pimp My Ride" candidate, tho that would be fun, too, if you lived in Cali).

My driving instructors always preached, "Smooth is fast" and one could take that to mean many things, including "smooth" as in BMW TT performance that leads to being "fast"... but not "furious" as in rattlin' fit and finish! hahaha, J/K

OBTW, 2012 F30 series will feature a TT four-banger pushing about 240-50HP/260TQ (correct me if I am wrong) and tuneable engine...something to think about...

It is your personal choice; you will be the one driving the car no one else! Just remember; comfort means a lot once you are used to it; so does having a good bit of down low TQ (a turbo 4 can't match a turbo 6 in that regard).

Just make sure you need this power; not want it because later on you may regret it!
