F90 M5 Dyno - pulling torque, unhappy - resolved

Hi Friends,

Just threw my Launch Edition M5 on a dyno as a baseline prior to going down the carbahn stage 3 path (only current mod is Eventuri Gen 2 intakes) - we're noticing some weirdness though on a Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno.

Essentially the car in dyno mode starts off RWD, then the front kicks in, so we're having a bunch of trouble ramping up in 5th. Best run we got was below:

Looking at other graphs - particularly Evolves

it seems we're hitting peak torque on point (~550lb ft / 750-770nm) then its pulling for the remainder of the run, with a pretty average showing of ~322awkw (430hp ATW).

Car drives fine, and will happily snap off a 3.1 to 100km/h.

Any thoughts here?

Same make as Imran@Evolve so I suspect linked. It also regularly handles ~600awkw RS3's.

We were using "dyno mode" in car as well.

Exact same dyno as Evolve ?

Did they have it in Shootout Mode v8 Turbo ?

The ramp rate is critical too.

You had the trans in manual mode ?

1. Looks pretty identical, potentially oldser
2. It was in shootout mode, not sure on the mode.
3. We ran 200 Ramp, 80kg inertia, Evolves graph ramp looks to be 100, but the feedback is that seems low - will run again tomorrow before we pull the ECU's.
4. Yep - running 5th gear.

Thanks for the heads up

If it is a truly linked dyno , you could run it in Sport Plus and not dyno mode since the roller speed front to back is locked/linked.

Try 100 ramp as well before you give up.

Nothing is wrong with the car, it’s all in the dyno settings.

Resolved. Apparently we didn't calibrate for intake temp. 353awkw.

Now we wait.

Yep, happy with the baseline here - pretty on point for AUS deliver 98 Ron (93 AKI) fuel on a 35000km car. Torque line looks bang on.

Trans still not happy on the dyno (front wheels often refusing to engage), but we got 2 pulls that looked right.
