Any interest for back-up camera and multimedia interface kit?
It sounds like one or both of the vendors might be willing to fly up to Seattle to do some installs for their back-up camera and multimedia interface kits.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=330640 (dobas) http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324134 (MentholGuy) As long we we cover the airfare and hotel, the installation should remain free. I figure splitting the cost of airfare and hotel between several of us will be cheaper than having them installed individually by Car Toys or Benchmark. Plus, these two are much more familiar with the install and will undoubtedly take better care of our cars when working on them. Is anyone up for it? I am told they can do about 3 installs a day and it would be best to have two days lined up. I'd be willing to use my garage for the installs if nobody else has one to offer. I can't imagine the cost of airfare and hotel would be more than $100 extra which is not bad for a 3 hour+ install. So basically we're looking at around $600 total for the kit and backup camera installed. 1. dvn 2. Kev Last edited by dvn; 01-20-2010 at 02:43 PM.. |

I'm totally interested. Looks like the MentholGuy kit is more nifty and OEM looking than Alek's, but I can do either one. Let me know.

The cost of install is FREE, we are splitting up the cost of airfare and hotel for one of them to come up to Seattle for the install.

The cost of the kit is 485 for 1st Gen iDrive and 495 for 2nd Gen iDrive, we can try and see if we can get a group discount if we can get 7-8 people to join in for the GB

i guess thats not too bad. but a tvandnav2go runs about 250, and a back up camera is only 50 bucks of less. does this do anything special that tvandnav2go doesnt?

No, it's basically the same interface that turns on the camera when you are on reverse, and also allows you to watch video with a different source input. You are really paying the extra to have the OEM integrated looking camera and not having to modify any part of your car.

Exactly. I don't know much about the tvandnav2go setup but I know the kit we're discussing is plug-and-play.
I'm going to modify the first post to reflect a GB sign-up list. |

Hello Guys,
Let me join this thread to boost it up Quote:
However I don't recommend to use down arrow on your steering wheel, because if you press and hold too long, it will also switch your radio station and/or fast foward CD playing. Our module keeps 2 way control functions (MENU and/or Down Arrow) on newer models (2009+), while others only keep one control function - Down Arrow. Also, there are few minor changes on late 09 and 2010~ models, and we developed new Plug and Play kit which will work on newer models, it means our PnP kit will work with both old and new models which has new type connectors, while other vendor claims their PnP kit won't work with every model. Did I also mention that every our kit comes with PnP kit, not by customers request? Quote:
Only the cable we are selling on our web store doesn't support firmware ver3.0+ Apple blocked 3rd party Composite AV Cable support after they released firmware ver3.0, So if you have and want to connect iPhone/iPod with firmware ver3.0+ then you can still connect it to module via composite AV cable, but in this case, you need to get an official apple composite AV cable from apple store. Quote:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23576 That's the old version which doesn't support split screen, Our module is the newest one, and you can have split screen with our module Last edited by MentholGuy; 01-21-2010 at 05:48 AM.. |

So is this going to happen anytime soon? I will be moving the M3 down to Arizona March 17...so I am in if it is before then. Otherwise I guess I could just stop by the actual installer in Cali on my way down...
