Auto Start/Stop disable

Hello everyone,

I just bought a new 228i gran coupe and I have to press the disable auto start/stop each time. Does anyone know if using bimmercode to turn on the memory disable would void my warranty? I am assuming not because it’s a feature from the factory but it’s just turned off..

Using Bimmercode allows you to reverse whatever you code so if you have a problem just reverse it before you go to the dealership.

Has driving become such a pain that pressing one button is too much of an effort? 😉 I set my driving mode to sport individual with all settings at comfort aside from the gearbox set to sport. Yes I do have to press a button and start/stop is disabled. Bimmercode can also set this to be automatically on at startup too...

Apparently yes. Note the move towards autonomous vehicles.

Yes certain technology will become mandatory soon and without any user interference. Personally I feel start/stop should be as well as it is a very minor irritation...

Each to there own, but really it does what it says and with the minimal of intrusion. I guess some are just fixated with it...

I turned off Start / Stop on my X3 today using the ESYS program and the ENET cable. I made the cable from a piece of LAN cable and an OBD2 plug.

So is there a button for this or not?

Am driving an F44 dealer loaner car and cannot figure out how to disable it. Searched the car settings on the screen and can't find it! Hate start-stop so much LOL.

Assuming (not unreasonably, I think) that what works for an F40 M135iX will also work for other F4x cars, just use basic Bimmercode to enable the Auto Stop/Start function memory. Then turn ASS off before taking your car in to the dealer and they'll never know. The other option, to simply disable the ASS function doesn't seem to have the desired effect on my car. The only slightly annoying feature is that ASS always comes on in ECO mode. For anyone who wants to question the need for this: just go away and enjoy your own car.

I just wish the car would remember your previous driving mode e.g. keep it in sport mode all the time and at the same time you'd have no S/S

I believe this can be coded in, although I have never tried it on my car.

With Bimmercode Basic Mode, just select BDC and Default Driving Mode.

In BC Expert Mode or with ESys, you need BDC, section 3221, and edit FesPiaDefaultLastUserMode

Not possible due to some regulations. There are multiple testings, like fuel economy, noise or emissions, which are measured in the designated startup driving mode.

Sorry to rain on your parade: this may be true for a Swiss G82, but for my UK F40 it works perfectly. I can select SPORT in BC Basic Mode, or set FesPiaDefaultLastUserMode = 0x01, and the car starts and remains in Sport until something else is selected. Not that I want this, so it's back to COMFORT.

No, I meant it's not possible for the manufacturer to make it from factory because of said reasons. It can be coded afterwards.

You can absolutely code the stop start off. The programming is remember last state so when you turn it off using the button it remembers it and doesn’t turn it back on unless you press the button again or enable eco pro mode.

Did the same on my M4 for the sake of my bearing surfaces.

Bearing surfaces are unaffected by the start stop, just another one of those myth's.

Show me engines that a engineer has proven it's actually been damaged by the start stop?
