218i tuning to i8 level

Seeing as the i8 and the 218i GC use the exact same engine what would be needed to increase the performance of the 218i to that of the i8.

The i8 has 228 bhp and the 218i has 140 bhp so I was just wondering what exactly I would need to get done to match this thanks.

I’m no mechanic/tuning expert but I suspect BMW squeezed every bit of power out of that 1.5l engine in the i8 using a different tune (so different air-fuel ratios), bigger turbo, bigger down pipe to improve exhaust. Not sure what is possible to retro fit into your 218i but a simple tuning box looks like it would give you an extra 25% up to 129kw (and 23% more torque) and they are only 300 pound or so
