Dear all, I just finished with Bimmercode coding F40, video in motion, start/stop. Did someone success to put M logo on instrument cluster?

Yes, with BimmerCode standar > Display options instrument cluster > Layout > M Sport

After reading all this post:
Is it possible to code the M Instrument cluster and add the correct red line for the M135i engine ?
And any chance to change the scale of the speedo to go to 260 km/h instead of 330 to be more legible ?
In expert mode ?
Thank you

Hi!

Can you post a video/image of the coding working?
I just tried it with BimmerCode > Lighting > Exterior lighting switch-off but no result. It does the coding but it doesn't work for my Bmw F40.
I still can't turn off the lights with engine running.

Is it necessary to modify something in the lighting also in the Idrive? Thanks!

Once my F40 arrives I will proceed to code it again and provide you with some pics.

I managed so solve an issue I had and wanted to share.
if you're in manual mode, you see your current gear in the Combi as "M4" for example but this quickly goes away and is replaced by recommended gear like "4>5" and the numbers turn small.

If you want it to only show current gear go to bimmercode:
Instrument cluster / Expert mode / SPA_KOMBISELECT_DISABLE
Change this from "active" to nicht active"

Thanks! It is appreciated that there are colleagues who investigate and share F40 codings. Especially for people who are not specialists in coding

Hi Manboy

Did you recode the automatic lights off when the engine is running?

Did it work for you with BimmerCode? It still doesn't work for me.
Could you tell me how you did the coding or tutorial?

Thank you!

Hi,
Yes, it worked fine. There is an option in the basic meny in "Body Domain Controller". just scroll down and find "Exterior lighting switch-off allowed" and choose Yes. That is how I did it. I should work for you as well. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll have another look in Bimmercode while it is connected to my car.

Does Sport Plus really work for the F40 118i?

An interesting debate. Some people swear that the 'enhanced' driving modes for F40 cars make a difference, while others are convinced that it's all in the mind. Probably best to try it and decide for yourself, with some objective assessment if possible.

Okay.
This week I try the coding again following your instructions. I hope it works
Thank you!

I was wondering this too, so I tried it and it did nothing in my car.

Hi Manboy

I changed the OBDII adapter and now with Bimmercode if I can activate the coding for lights off while running. It works perfectly, thanks!

Does anyone know how to change the D shown in the instrument cluster during normal driving mode to always show "D1/D2/D3"?

I would like to know my gears when i am driving in comfort/sport auto mode.

There are 2 main things i was looking to code, but im not sure if its possible.
1- Unlock all doors after opening the drivers door from the inside. Its a bit of a pain having to go get the keys again if i want to take something out of the back seats or trunk.

2- remote start, mostly for climate control.

1. Don't you have lock & unlock buttons, also a trunk unlock button, on the driver's door?

2. Remote engine start is likely to be not allowed, depending on where you are. In iDrive you can set the ventilation to start at a defined time.
CAR/Settings/Climate control/Auxiliary ventilation/Departure plan
I may not have defined this exactly, but that should be close enough.

Thank you for your reply and help!

About the 1., the doors, i do have those buttons - i can unlock all doors and boot from there. But im used to on all cars, even bmws before that i had driven for a while, they would unlock all doors after i opened the drivers door. For example, exiting the car by the drivers door and then trying to take something from the back seats. As it is now, i need to keep the key in hand and press the unlock button on the key, even though i just exited the car.

the #2, i did some research and as it now, this only heats the car using remaining heat from the engine. But if the car has been parked overnight, the engine will not have heat to provide to it.
I have programmed the hours on idrive, and when i get to the car i can still hear the fans but no heat is inside or coming from them.

1. If you set the unlock action in iDrive to unlock all doors with the remote, rather than just the driver's door, does this change things? Driver's door only is an obvious security measure to stop potential scumbags jumping in as soon as the car's unlocked.

2, I think this is more of a hot climate option, to ventilate the car before you get in. Obviously it can't conjure up heating or air conditioning from nowhere.
