M Performance vs. Ebay splitter (a review)

After a year and a half with my ebay front splitter I made the upgrade to the M Performance one (after seeing how high quality the sideskirts were). Thought I'd post a quick review for anyone looking at a splitter and on the fence of ebay vs. the real thing.

Ebay splitter - Trying to put the mounting bracket on the splitter, I immediately realized the holes didn't line up. It was a real struggle trying to mount the bracket. Once I did and tried to mount on the car, to further the frustration the brackets didn't line up to the holes where you mount it on the car. I had to get longer bolts just to get this thing to fit. Some paint chipped off the splitter upon install. Finally, once installed, it looked fairly decent but noticed there was about 1/2" gap at the ends of the splitter where it should be covering. All in all; poor fitment, bolts don't line up, sizing isn't perfect but looks decent for the price. I'd rate it 5/10.

M Performance splitter - Putting this thing on is a piece of cake. Perfect fitment all around. Mounting the brackets to the splitter is easy, when mounting it everything lines up, and to my satisfaction no more gap It feels more sturdy and a better paintjob. Rating 10/10.

Here's some pics of the new splitter and a comparison of the old (showing the gap).

The ol saying still rings true - you get what you pay for

Appreciate you taking the time to provide a real world experience for all those folks out there who think cheaper is the path to choose.

I've been really happy with my eBay front splitter(s) from Ikon Motorsports. They fit very well, simple to install. I say splitters because I have had the unfortunate misfortune of having 3 damaged (2 by tire treads kicked up on the highway, and one by my ppf installer).

I, too, ordered the BMW MPerformance version after this last time. Should arrive tomorrow and is going straight to have Xpel installed prior to me installing it on the car. I'm hoping because it is lower profile than my previous splitters that it'll be less susceptible to damage.

Seems some on ebay are better than others. I also had the splitter or whatever it's called that sits lower down and more forward. I like this new m performance because it's still aggressive but not quite as low and likely to hit things or scrape.

Some like to post a question in a less-traveled section of a forum, hope somebody reads it, and that the somebody has the answer instead of finding said answer in milliseconds using a well-known search engine

51-19-2-455-832 Black high-gloss version. Cheapest I found it with shipping was from BMW Parts Worldwide.
