what are the options for coding this in? I have tried everything I have found and none let the cameras operate when the car is in motion.

So I just picked up my 2016 M3 and noticed the DVD does not work unless:

6MT is in neutral
E-brake is applied

Are those the only 2 stipulations or does the car also sense motion?

What's the best way to bypass this so I can send the video feed to a rear monitor? Reading this thread just makes me more confused, seems you can buy something or have it coded?

Any advantage to one over the other?

thanks!

If you feel comfortable you can code it yourself, it's free other than needing to buy an ENET cable ($20 on ebay). Otherwise you can buy a USB stick that's preprogrammed and does the "coding" for you (one site I just googled charges $160 for only this one feature). IMO you should learn to code your car as it's such a useful thing to know. Plus you can en/disable a lot more.
