Launch control - does it damage your car?

I've been really hesitant to try launch control b/c I am worried it will damage something in the car if done incorrectly or done too many times. I didn't find a thread discussing this but wondering what the consensus is on this topic.

You should be ok trying it out a couple of times. However, it will wear out your drivetrain components much faster than normal. I have heard of people who have done it 100+ times and swear that their car is fine. The car is designed with high tolerences but still - If you actually care about your car, i wouldn't do it too many times.

you are not on sticky tires so it'll be ok but yes there is loading on the drive line. should not be a problem unless you do it very often.

If you do anything in excess, it's going to have a negative effect. Not that this helps definitively I would say LC every so often isn't going to kill the car. It is built with higher tolerances than an average 3 series.

Having read other's experiences with LC and watching a few videos, I'm not sure I even want to try this on a public road. But it does look like fun...

I had the opportunity to take my F80 to the drag strip yesterday.

The launch control is madness!! I did about 5 runs with launch control and the car is good to go. I just wanted to see what I could run. I might go back later on down the road and try some race fuel in it. As for trying on public roads.. probably not the best idea. But if you do.. make sure it's a wide road. My last few runs I was going sideways through the first 3 gears. The track was getting dirty and they needed to add new glue to it.
