Just resetting trip mileage
Hi All,
I've tried YouTube and other searches, but don't have an answer for this. When I fill up, I'm not able to just reset the trip. It resets the mpg and other things too when I press the BC button on the stalk. How do I just reset the trip and none of the other things? I've been in to the individual menu on the idrive and it's still unclear. Is this yet another 'feature' of the newer cars that's proving to be a bit frustrating? Cheers Matt |

The options to reset trip data are in Settings > General Settings > Reset Journey Data, not sure if you'll find what you want but have a look in there.

Perhaps there's an individual setting in the journey data bit that allows one to be done and not the other? Bring back the button on the instrument cluster that just reset it! |

I’ve just re-read your first message… in theory you don’t need to reset after filling up as the car has a separate trip data field for that (depending on how much you've put in):

I'll try setting it to the refuelling setting in the idrive and see if that automatically resets the trip after a fill up. I know that any time I reset the trip manually, via the BC button, it resets mpg and mph data too. Neither of which I want to reset.
Thanks for your help. |

I believe that what you are actually trying to achieve (i.e. resetting mileage only) isn't directly possible as the stats are all linked together in each "type" of trip data. I think the only way to achieve what you want would be to use the Refuelling one for tracking the mileage (and ignoring the other stats) and use Individual for tracking mpg and average speeds.

AFAIK if you set it to the "since refuelling" setting it will reset the mph and mpg as well, but only the ones in the "since refuelling" screen: I think you should still be able to see the "since factory", "start of journey" and "individual" readings separate to that. I have mine set to "since refuelling" so I'll check later.

In ID8 you can select “Since Refuel” for driving data since the last fill up, or “Start of Journey” for data since you drove it within the past hour or so …which would include a quick stop for fuel, etc. to view the data for that particular function.
