Cant decide on new car ?

Hi my name is Sasha and I have been following these forums for a few months now. It\'s now time for me to decide on my next car and I cant figure it out quite yet. My budget is ~44k tax and all. I definitely want a coupe but a new 335i is too expensive. Performance is key for me so I am split between a used 335i or a brand new g37s (yes opposite of a 335i). Whats your guys take on things? If I go for the g37s it would be base (although g37s stock is legit) and if I go for the used 335i I\'m thinking 2010/2011 so I\'d assume that it would also be pretty basic considering it would have to be listed around 42k.

Go for a test drive. You will see the difference between these two cars. :

How about taking over my lease for 25 months then buy it out? 2009 (on road Jan 4 2010) Black on red coupe with sport audio and exec. Carbon fibre dash etc. PM me if interested. Good way to get into one of these cars for a very reasonable cost as I paid all the up front taxes and deposits. $7500 lease return protection if you decide to give it back. Always hand washed etc. Looks/drives like new.

Definitely going to test drive them soon, unfortunately there are no 335i M/T locally. I would have to order it from the dealer or keep looking. I'm located in socsl

No question you should be able to get a super nice 10 or 11 cpo 335 for 44k out the door...You could prob even find a cpo 08 M3 if you want.

Back in 2008, I brought a 08 G37S with sport package instead of the 335. The main reason I picked the Infiniti was the $$$ (~$7k cheaper) and I didn’t like NAVI of the 335 back in 2008. I have since switch over to 2011 335 this past March. Having owned both cars, the biggest difference is the handling of the 335 and is more refined. The 335 is feel more sure footed around corners and does not ride as rough as the G37. The 335 is quieter. You don’t have to deal with a huge blind spots on the G37. The 335 is a tad bit fast too. You get what you pay for .

Either way, you are getting a great car. Best of luck to you.

CPO 2008 M3 but, a CPO 2010 335i would be a close second. A g37s is probably one of the last cars id look at since i hate the way they are styled. An E46 M3 would be higher on the totem pole than a g37.

If you drive the G37s and like it, then no problem in buying that. Also Mercedes is rolling out with new 2 door C class coupes. I'd take a look at those as well. With used BMW coupes, you really have to be careful of the newer late model ones that are for sale. Many people that buy BMW's and love it would not even consider selling it. So if they do there may have been a mechanical reason to do so. The way I view BMW's is, when you buy a new one, you either get a really, really shitty lemon that has all kinds of problems, or you get a really really sweet car that puts a smile on your face every time you drive it and has no problems. I got my E92 335i with 6MT, M sport, Ipod, leather, comfort access, for $52k OTD. Where I live we have to pay nearly 10% tax, so a bit higher than the rest of the country.

Semi-off topic. If I was to buy a used BMW from a dealership (not CPO) does the California lemon law still apply? If it is CPO, same question.

No it does not, lemon law only for new cars.

Or they just want a new car. Thats a really funny statement.

I'm a bit skeptical of buying a used car anyways, if I was to flex my budget a bit could I order a brand new 335i from the dealer for a price that wouldn't exceed the msrp price when I build one on the Internet. From what I'm looking at if I was to order the 335i to my specs with msport and all it comes to 47k, what I'm asking is would I be able to get the car OTD for less than or equal to 47k

Find a used N54 335 (pre 2011) for under $41k, put $2-3k in mods into it and have 425hp/475tq at the wheels.

Not sure how the G37 mods work out since I'm not into them.

How about going to the dealership and finding out. I would actually go to different BMW dealerships in the area and have them beat their own prices. If it were me i'd do like the guy above mentioned. Buy used and put a few thousand into mods.

Probably not, you're just about $4-5k over after you've added the CA tax and fees. Maybe look at a E92 328i and order it with less options? Most of the cars that you'll see on the BMW dealers' lots are going to be optioned out to the hilt. They throw in the whole kitchen.

If you can find a car in inventory, sitting on the lot, it is possible to buy a new car for less than invoice, let alone less than MSRP.

However finding an inventory car in 6MT will be tricky.

Don't agree with this at all, I think they are usually optioned conservatively.

go in to a dealer and say your budget is 42k and see what they can do with used and new, then you have room to say oh alright i will do 44k when you knew all along you would spend that anyways. Let them look for you.
