How many of each model is made in any given year

I saw a 340i a few days ago and realize that I really don't see many around and was curious how many have been produce but the number just total all of the three series and it seems they also include the m3 in those figures. Anyway to figure out how many of each model is made each year?

BMW doesn't release breakdowns, making it hard. Sometimes the number can be found in the EPA/NHTSA recall database, as a problem common to a 340i will result in a filing detailing how many vehicles are affected (that's why we know that just over 10,000 E90 335d were sold in the USA/CA, for instance.)

All the other numbers are estimates that writers/observers in the auto industry make.

It's likely that 340i/xi make up around 20%-25% of the total 3 series (4-series may be different since they're "sportier".) I make that statement knowing that that was the breakdown for the E46 between 330i and 325i. The additional cost is not worth it for most buyers/lessors, that really just want a nice car that is quick and are perfectly happy with the 328i/330i performance.

Seem like a reasonable assessment
