I went and found my Grandma and proudly announced to her that "I heard Grandpa talking Irish!" She was very skeptical and puzzled. "What did it sound like?" she asked. I did my best to do a mumble-mouthed impression of it. She laughed and with a wry smile said "Lad, that wasn't Irish. And I better never hear such things coming out of your young mouth."
Funny, I learned from my father, then loved stand up comedians as a teen. Naturally I did what everyone else on the planet does; I incorporated everything I've witnessed and rolled it all into one massive elaborate personality. At least when I'm upset enough to rant about something, I try to make it as comical & enjoyable for the person that hears it. The way I see it is that if they have to listen to me bitch, they'll at least get a laugh out of it in the process.

I would say I'm "type A." I do everything fast; my exes will all happily confirm that. I'm impatient. I live in Minnesota, which is The Land of the Careful, so I'm a misfit here. And so I spend way too much time feeling frustrated that the entire world is in my way. I feel like I'm always waiting for someone. On the road, that's true around 85% of the time. I'm pretty sure I was a New York City cabbie in a previous life.

I think my ultimate frustrating road behavior is the people who insist on a 3-second nap after the light or the turn arrow turns green. The other day I sat through the whole cycle at a big intersection just up the street from where I live. I was the 4th car in a left turn lane. The turn arrow and the light for the adjoining lanes all turned green, and nobody moved in any of the lanes for at least 4 seconds. When the lead dolt in our turn lane finally awoke from his stupor and oozed through the turn, the next dolt in line took his own 3-second nap. So did Dolt #3, who went through after the arrow had turned solid red. The result of which was that for a turn arrow which lasted probably 12 to 15 seconds, ONLY THREE F*CKING CARS made it through. I wasn't one of them. And nobody honked their horns except me. So I had to sit through the whole 5-minute cycle all over again, thanks to the overly-polite dip-shits I'm forced to share the road with and despite the fact that I pay way more than my share of the cost of building and maintaining those roads.

We might be related. At least poured from the same cloth and cut from the same mold. Much of what you've said here comes from my mouth often! My poor girlfriend. I get cracked up at how people complain about not having enough money or not having a significant other, my gripes consist of my time being wasted by the mindless. I always need to be where I should be 5 minutes ago, not because I'm late (which is rare) but because I'm on a mission; not for where I'm supposed to be now, but where I need to be after this. I'm always 2 steps ahead of myself. The cool thing is that I sometimes forget things that I've done to set myself up for projects later, basically just prep-work.....but when I remember or notice that I did something that will save me time later.

I hate it when folks out here in corn country, where you can see in every direction for 2 miles at intersections, sit at stop signs for 15-20 seconds when it's plainly obvious there is no one on the cross road. That said, they still manage to get themselves killed at wide open (unmarked) intersections because they somehow just assume the other guy is going to stop, assuming they even see the other car coming. It comes down to tunnel vision. They only see what's right in front of them. They don't even think about looking ahead or off to the sides while they drive.

Same here. I can be a pain in the ass, but I'm a funny pain in the ass. I grew up on George Carlin (remember the 7 dirty words?) and Richard Pryor, then moved on to Sam Kinison and Dice Clay and Bob Johnson - all the HBO specials from Dangerfield's.

We always referred to rolls as disco biscuits. I'm by no stretch a "youngster" but it seems all the ludes were gone by the time I was old enough to know what they were. Never had the experience.

I hung with a crowd that was 8-10 years older than I was. I tried one. Meh. You didn't miss much.

You use your heated seats all year round, even when the AC is on because it feels good on your aching back.

That is actually going on down the street with one of our elderly neighbors right now. He's in his mid-80's, and just last night challenged my DW to a foot race...and WON! He told her that he's living his last years as a child all over again.

This reminds me of the old saying that everyone spends their first years of life soiling diapers, and also spends the last years of their lives soiling diapers.....

Just walked up 4 flights from the basement at the office. Even with all the cycling I do, my quads still scream at me when I'm climbing stairs and I'm still sucking air like a fish out of water when I reach the top.
