Very little effort gone into the design of this in my opinion.
The rear lights look too big for the car too.

I can see this being a car a Mini driver might progress to. Or perhaps someone that could afford say, a Stinger but prefers a small car and appreciates the refinement a BMW brings over a Kia.

The next M2 is gonna look ridiculous. This new design is too floaty.

It's safe to say only sales statistics will vindicate the design direction and decision to launch 2 series GC.

the rear design goes against the 'sporty' look they are claiming to achieve. front and side views are not bad but the back styling spoils it IMO.

on a general note, all this baby m's and baby AMGs are just spoiling the total outlook of their offerings. clearly a great sales strategy to target all customer segments but that distinguishing factor and sense of pride when you own a real M or AMG is just not there anymore. Feel bad for those real M and AMG owners.

I don't like this car at all. The 2 went from being such a good looking little car to looking so......American.

You almost want to naturally hate this car. I'm trying my best to really like it but there's absolutely nothing about it that would make a grown ass man want to buy it. This is perfect for kids in high school or a graduation gift for a daughter for going to college.

Looking at A3 and CLA sales, I think it will be vindicated.

Well, I don’t think any FWD M235is rolling around has any effect on the enjoyment of my car. If BMW can sell more M Performance cars and thus have more money to plow back into R&D (hopefully to cars I want in the future), then I say bring it on!

Nothing to see here... bMW has given up.... Look at me turn my attention elsewhere : Honda, Mazda, Kia, Hyundai, Tesla, or even Toyota....

SCOTT26,

I thought you said this 2GC was going to be a looker?!?! The 4 looked interesting and bold, but this just looks like a Ford Focus.

Anyone who's not convinced that BMW can't create an exhilarating FWD 4 cylinder vehicle really needs to drive the last generation Mini Cooper JCW.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by its potential and would absolutely change your outlook on the controversial FWD platform.

Dynamically, It will not be a bad car... It will quite good and competitive...

But esthetically, visually, design-wise.. it is a messy of a cheap looking drawing and penmanship... Not worthy of a BMW/M badge

Agreed

Just because Ford decided not to make sedans anymore doesn't mean BMW has to do it for them ...

Problem with this car.

The problem with this car is from the A pillar forward. It has a very hatchback front with a slick coupe body. The front of the car sits far too high, meaning that the window line looks like it's going well under the bonnet / hood of the car. All the individual details on the car are great it's just the hatchback face and coupe body don't marry together. Cost saving is the reason for this.

I have no issues with the fwd based xdrive, but IMHO, CLA looks way better then this.
Other words - BMW, u did ok except the exterior.

This fat butt and narrow lights just does not work for me.
