Reason behind the MPE controller

I am suffering from the bad connection between the controller and receiver. It is to my understanding that the standard exhaust has a single valve motor and is controlled by wire. I am curious to why BMW didn't just use that for their MPE and instead went with this BT route. My assumption is because the MPE is pretty much a straight pipe with valve open and would not pass most countries regulations. On the other hand, the F8X MPE's are not by BT and would open with Sport Mode and no "track only" warning.

The control logic behind the stock exhaust is correlated to the driving mode and throttle input. With that being said, would it be possible to splice the stock valve motor wiring and drive the 2 valve motors of the MPE?

MPE valve open is too loud to be legal in the US. That is why the BT controller is labeled track use only.
