Bump. Cross shopping for my second car. Especially a GT350R if MSRP is possible mid next year.

Any update from OP?

We had a shop GT350, one of the first in Florida.. Got rid of it earlier this year. If you want a Mustang, get a 2018 5.0.

Care to get into the reasons why? I’m aware of some of the quality issues of the GT350, but anything you would comment on?

1) Burns oil like crazy
2) Slow for the money (2018 A10 5.0 runs circles around it in a straight line.. PP2 manual runs damn close / faster in twisties)
3) With boost, runs slower than equivalent 5.0's
4) Cost does not represent worth
5) ZL1 1LE is available

We now have a 2018 5.0 with over 900whp. We've had 15+ shop Mustangs and it is our specialty. The GT350 was an attempt and a flop by Ford. It is what it is.

The GT350R could be one of the best sounding American stock car ever made and the GT350 only needs a resonator delete to replicate it. That is its biggest benefit.

I was a GT350 owner and sold it for reasons 1, 2, 4.. and the comment about the exhaust is dead on, but I found myself envious of higher pitched exhausts (basically 911 GT3, which is on my list what I may get next)

We loved our car... but we love the 18 5.0 more. The A10 is incredible.

Cannot wait until the 2020 GT500.

picking up m2c at ED tomorrow, have a 350R. Will post a comparison with a couple other cars when I get it back. I expect it to be much different. I am a big fan of the car, it’s a true bargain depending on what you look for. I find it almost as exciting to drive as 991.2 gt3. Not a very relaxing car though, and would be too much for me to DD.

Thanks for explaining! It is unfortunate it’s high rpm power does not off set it’s lack of low end torque. Cars with 60-80hp less can keep up with it in a straight line. No doubt a ZL1 1LE will run circles around it... in fact the SS1LE runs similar numbers to the GT350R on a lot of tracks.

Logan, what shop do you work at? I am in FL and own a Boss 302 also... might want to do a clutch soon.

Messaged, I am sure you've heard of us.
