My car was towed. WHY DIDN'T THE APP TELL ME?!?

My car was towed sometime in the last few days, while I was sick in bed.

Why did the app not notify me that the car was towed??

Even now the app says “ALL GOOD.” Um, no it is not. It’s been towed!

The most it tells me is that it’s at an unfamiliar location. But it often reports an unexpected location anyway: an alleyway instead of the street it’s parked on, for example.

Why did it not notify me? Will it notify me if it’s stolen? What’s going on?!

Sadly the app falls short of these notifications, it also does not notify you if you left your sunroof open. My wife's Mazda that costs half my X3 notifies her if she leaves door open, window down etc.

It only sends data at doors unlocked and open (at least).

IF the car is towed BUT NOT STARTED it won't report to the app. Obviously, if the car isn't started or the electronics aren't "on" there's no expectation for the car to report to the app......obviously.

That would be nice if the alarm triggering sent a notification. Could be worse… my $70k Ford doesn’t even tell you if the doors are locked or not.

The Expedition Max Limited is over 70. The Expedition Max Platinum can walk right past 90!!!

For the record I wasn’t insane enough to pay anywhere near that much.

Probably not available in the UK but checkout the F-150 configurator some time. A fully loaded one is pushing $100k.

Pickup trucks have gotten ridiculously expensive.

This. In South Florida pickup trucks are everywhere. I can't tell you how many people have said to me "your car is really expensive" referring to one of my BMW's and I have had to say "Your Ford pickup truck cost more than my BMW." The look on their faces is priceless.

If a cute dog can set off the alarm by being inside the car (there’s a thread about this—nice dog!), it’s very wrong that a tow or theft won’t trigger anything.
