I'm just doing some research and i'm getting some reports on H&R coil overs are either stiff as shiet just like the H&R sport springs or is comfortable? I may just go with the V2's adjust height and make it more comfortable?

I'm done, don't care. Everyone get V3's they only cost $2k. According to everyone and KW's web site which shows a 5+ year old H&R coilover I will be rusting away after only 480 hours.

Jeff, Im not trying to knock your choice.
Those of us that live in places where we swim in brine water in the winter time care about these things. I've searched around and am sharing. If you think Iam talking out of my ass, then please correct me. The KW's are stainless steel. The H&R's are galvanized aluminum. The V1's cost a couple hundred more than the H&R's which isnt enough to sway me either way. Iam more concerned about ride quality and corrosion resistance, but since us XI's get the shaft in terms of options, there isnt any objective comparisons or reports on the limited choices we have. |

No worries. I live in Mass where salt and sand are required in huge amounts all winter long. I have no concerns my H&R will ever rust. And with my past experience with KW's I would never buy them again. Just personal preference I guess. but again I'm done.

No. You simply have to take the wheel off and you can adjust with the allen keys provided.

Just me or does the front wheel give the illusion of being bigger than the back one?
Car looks good though

i noticed the ride was a bit bumpier than stock. idk, it kind of feels like i have run flats all over again bc i feel every single bump in the road. i had the stock suspension for a week before doin the coilovers and it was so much smoother. i think i got mine from jlevisw.com or **********s.com, i do a lot of shopping around between those 2 sites so i don't remember

Any one figure out the rust issue? I guess ill try and get ahold of the company and see what they say.
One last thing do you have to take the springs off to adjust on the H&R's? I think the previous post was talking about the KW's |

JeffL...we need to hook up some time so that I can ride in your car. I want to feel the ride in person with the 19s. I will probably lower my car first and then decide whether or not to go with 18s or 19s. I have had rim bend issues with my last car and 19s, so I do not want to be spending money every year on fixing the bends.
btw. do you go to BMW Gallery of Norwood for service? If so, have you gone to them with your modifications and not run into any issues with them saying something about them? WIL

No I would not go anywhere near Norwood for anything. I go to Wagner in Shrewsbery they don't say anything about the coilovers or wheels. The tech gets a little pissed because the lift won't fit under it but it's an easy fix with a floor jack. He was mostly just giving me a hard time, I think? The last time I was there they actually hand washed and waxed it and had it sitting in the show room when I picked it up. (was just in for an un-scheduled oil change). I thought it was odd. I'm going to be in St Louis, Denver, then San Fran till sometime after the 4th so it will have to be after that. You didn't go to CnC this past Sunday?

Wish I could drop it a bit, but I'm not risking screwing with a BMW suspension.
Any stiffer, and i'm going to bend a wheel on a pothole. Looks tremendous though, and I'd love to see them in person. |

JeffL I am thinking of getting the H&Rs as well. I'm guessing MA roads can get as bad as the crap here in Jersey City. I was just curious how many inches is the gap between your fender and tire for the front and rear? Also, I am hoping it be possible to get a side pic of your ride?

Did anyone ever resolve the question of the H&R's rusting? Also, has anyone had any experience lowering on H&R's with 18" wheels. Any kind of info would be helpful. Thanks!
