Anybody tried No-Wet?

I found this searching on the net:

http://www.nowet.com/greenclean.htm

Since we have a car wash ban in my county right now and I don't really like paying $$'s for someone else to clean my car I was looking for an alternative.

Never heard of it but I think ONR would be a safer bet.

ONR requires water to dilute though?

Our county specifically bans washing cars in their water restrictions, unfortunately they don't specify whether that's with a hose or just at all.

I haven't tried any waterless car washes but perhaps you should look into Chemical guys ONE waterless wash.............it doens't require any water and is supposed to be pretty good............i've never tried it but just throwin it out there

Do you have a garage? Just pull the car in and do it there. Maybe by the Greenclean also so if anyone gives you trouble you can say you used that. I wouldn't feel comfortable not using any water to wash my paint and just spraying some product. But then again I was skeptical about ONR and now it's pretty much my go to product.

Try this

http://www.washwaxall.com/

It's Wash Wax All, you don't need water, though I often wet my car down a bit, you could even wet it with a spray bottle, you don't need to soak it, it just helps to lift the dirt. Now...what's incredible is on black cars that mar or scratch easily...this stuff doesn't leave any marks...it cleans and puts a light wax on the car that actually sheets water off the car helping it remain cleaner longer! I can attest to this stuff, I have been using it for about 4 years...even on black trailers (car haulers) with the super thin, cheap paint that scratches if you look at it wrong...no marks, no swirls, nothing but a good clean finish!! It's not a detail spray, it actually lifts the dirt off the car safely (within reason I am sure) and wipes it away, the only thing I am careful about is making sure I am using a clean part of the towel to wipe the car with so I am not pushing dirt back into the finish.

Thanks,

it's a red Saab 9-3 Cab (should have been a Montego E92, but that's another story).

Looks like there's a couple of options.

I had considered the garage idea and even buying a few gallons of cheap bottled water!

I'm used to hosepipe bans in the UK, but that means what it says so you can still wash your car - this is just driving me crazy though, hence resorting to products I wouldn't normally look twice at.

ONR is fantastic. Here's a thread I wrote after the second time I used it. I've used it several times since: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121287 (lots of photos, so no 56K)

Most people seem to use around 2 gallons of water when they use ONR. I use maybe 5 gallons of water total when I wash with it. Since it requires some water, a bucket, and a mitt or sponge, I think someone seeing you use it would assume you're breaking the water restriction rules, unfortunately.

In the rare case that someone actually did call you out on it, I'd just show it to them so they see what it is. Hell, a minute or two shorter shower and you could have more than enough water to wash your car. I can't imagine you actually getting in trouble for that. But I agree, if you can do it in a garage, do that and avoid the confrontation.

ONR!!! You really only need a couple of gallons if you use the two bucket method.
