I went to Gun For Hire yesterday to fill out a NICS form (for my new Glock 17) and i overheard their current rental policy. Each group can only buy 1 box of pistol ammunition of any particular caliber. So there was a group of 4 people sharing 1 box of 9mm and 1 box of 45 cal. Wow. I hope the place can survive as rentals and tourist shooters is a big part of GFH's business model.

So with ammo being in such demand i think it would be a good time to sell my spent cases of 357/38
I’ve got atleast 700rds
Anyone know what the current market is on these for reloaders?

Probably not worth much more than pre-Covid19. The shortage is in primers and powders, not cases.

Very nice! I just finished building a Tikka hunting setup for a client in 6.5 CM. Great round! I have an LMT AR-10 style 6.5 CM that is really amazing.

I think so. I've had some P365s that had rough triggers out of the box, but after hand polishing the trigger bars and running some rounds through they got quite good. Others were good out of the box. This craft armory trigger is nice feeling though!

Install was more complex than you might expect, you essentially have to disassemble the entire firing group. But there's a pretty good video on YouTube, and you don't need any crazy tools, just a punch and some patience

Really, Really like this gun and the fist one I have finally been able to literally carry every single day and not be bothered by it or feel ill equipt.

I might have to check that trigger out. How was the install?

Taking wife to shoot new S&W 9 Shield tomorrow. Found some CCI online. I'll take 22 LR and shoot a few too. Found great former FBI trainer to work with her (and me too, guys good) so she's really enjoying.

Here's my latest and likely last firearm purchase for the foreseeable future. Not to worry, been back to it pretty heavy over the past 3-4 years so I've stocked up as much as I could, built or bought what I wanted and got out before it got ugly again.

This one is a Glock 31 chambered in 357 Sig. In the picture it has a Lone Wolf 9mm threaded conversion barrel along with a Glock 17 mag I installed a Dawson Precision extended basepad on. Not shown is the Olight Baldr pro weapon light with green laser. Have a few little pieces I'm getting ready to order so I'll get an updated pic once that's all done. Got lucky in that it already had night sights installed when I bought it. One less thing to do.

Although I have and LOVE my Glock 34, the only reason I even bought this is because I thought I was buying 2 boxes of 357 Magnum, picked the wrong thing and made it all the way through delivery before realizing I ordered the wrong caliber. So, I did the only reasonable thing and bought a gun in the caliber I didn't own. I did some research and saw it would be easy enough to convert into a 17 with a 9mm barrel so I went for it. I keep the 357 Sig barrel in it for home defense and load it with these monsters below, the G2 Research RIP.

RIP's for home defense? Have you looked at the penetration data?

14″– 17″ of Penetration
2″ Groupings at 25 yrds
9 Separate Wound Channels
Solid Copper / Lead Free
6.5″ – 7.5″ Diameter Spread
Precision Machined
Defeats all known barriers such as sheet metal, sheet rock, windshields, plywood, heavy winter clothing.

Sure have, thanks for your concern. I'm not taking them into public where I can't control any of the surrounding environment. House is a small ranch with all corners and hallways on the main floor besides the living room and kitchen. If a bullet leaves the property, it won't matter much which bullet it is because it didn't hit anything on the way out. I want anyone in my home meaning to do me or mine any harm to be neutralized, and these should do that. I have plenty of HST in 9mm and 45acp for carry guns or HD in other spots of the house. These stay in the 357. This is all mostly moot as I'm in IL and we have no castle doctrine or anything so it's all a hope and pray scenario anyway preparing for the worst.

Anyone want to donate me some 357 RIP ammo? We have a class the next two weeks where we will be shooting in and out of vehicles. I'd like to see what the RIP does. Our Winchester Ranger works just fine in 357 our of our Glock 31s.

You clearly made the right decision. I bought a Glock 22 when I retired as that was our service weapon and I was very fond of it. Picked up a 9mm barrel which I tend to shoot more as 9mm was easier to get and cheaper.....I think I'll also pick up a .357 sig barrel just because.

At my core I'm a Beretta and 1911 guy, but I've come to seriously appreciate the plastic wonderpistols. M&P is another one I really like. I think I'll get a .40 barrel eventually just to complete the trifecta. Never got into 40, but it seems more panic-proof than any of the 9/45/38 etc.

And yea, I think that box of RIP is about 20 felonies up North lol

I would never trust my life with RIP rounds. Ive seen some videos where they barely penetrate. Cool looking round but rather gimmicky imo
I will stick to my HST’s GoldDots and Critical Duty rounds but to each their own. It’s still better than nothing

Judging from gun board posts. Veteran gun carriers are just as bad. No training. They scare me. NRA courses: Protection Inside the Home, Outside the Home, and Defensive Pistol are good. The instructor I had for them was terrible. He gave me all three over two weekends total 10 hours. I suppose he knew I had that stuff previously. I didn't care. I just wanted the diplomas lol.

I needed the courses so I could get my instructor certs.

Gotta agree with you that some instructors are terrible. Luckily i’m pretty familiar with firearms, safety and my grandfather used to be a CCW instructor.
Mine didnt know the difference between a clip and a magazine, told us that he doesnt feel comfortable carrying with a round in the chamber and started going on about wanting to be a hero if there was a mass shooting. Among many more things. Also during the shooting portion i brought my glock 23 which is obviously a .40 he asked to load my gun to put a dummy round in it. Well he loaded it with a 9mm which resulted in a stovepipe. Luckily it didnt jam up my gun or anything.

I got my ccw though which was all i really cared about but i feel bad if anyone goes to his class expecting to actually learn something.

Just had my ccw renewal class and qualification.

Some of the other guys in the class were getting their first permit, the sheriff’s office is scheduling interviews almost 10 month away, ridiculous.

The instructor told us that over 100,000 guns were sold in Placer County (not sure if it’s in the last month or since Covid, either way that a lot of guns for a county that isn’t huge)
