1800 firm warnings to AVOID cooper cobham BMW at any cost

EDIT:
TO ALL THOSE WHO FIND THIS THROUGH GOOGLE: COOPERS SORTED EVERY PROBLEM TO MY SATISFACTION. PLEASE DO NOT DISREGARD THEIR SERVICE DUE TO THIS SEARCH RESULT. COOPERS AND I ARE NOW ON VERY GOOD TERMS

Hi both.

I did cover that but obviously it was a very long post

At this point I asked about the aircon, and they had no idea what I was talking about. They agreed to look at this as well and therefore they'd need to keep the car another day.

On Thursday; Jonathan Gibson the service advisor at Coopers I was dealing with phoned me with a problem. The clutch would not be covered under warranty. Apparently they thought I had an AUC warranty which would have covered it; But that the insured warranty I had would not. The warranty was with BMW and is the standard comprehensive warranty you are offered at the time the Approved Used Cars warranty expired. The car has 61k on the clock and was 3 years 9 months old.

Therefore, rather than a free repair which was promised to me: The repair cost £1100.
If I didn't make it clear (which is probable ) then to confirm. When he phoned me with the "bad news" I did authorise the work. After some heated discussion.

I'd already phoned around to get the price for parts for a flywheel + clutch and this was well over 600 therefore the quote for the work done was fair.. And I assumed that to be honest I had little alternative but to go ahead.

My main grievance with the original clutch repair was that I was told it would be warranty covered and then he phoned back to say "Well, actually, no. Pay now or come get the car". More or less. A very dissapointing phone call to say the least.

My second grievance with the clutch repair is that they introduced another problem whilst fixing it. But that is a side issue

Cheers

bump to the top.

I am drafting a letter this week. I've had some basic legal advice as well as mulling it over with colleagues.

Everyone thinks I'm in the right but the vast majority think that it's tough titty.

Still. Atleast by some of you reading this topic and reconsidering going to this dealership; We can hit them where it hurts.

This thread is on Page 2 on google at the moment.

What, just by reference to Coopers Cobham BMW? So every person that's typed Coopers Cobham BMW in this thread will help the googlebots find it?

I'm never likely to use them as I'm up the other end of the country, but can't do enough for a good cause

So Cooper cobham BMW told you that the clutch was being replaced under warranty due to premature wear and then claimed your warranty didn't cover it! If it is premature wear, by their own admission, why is it not covered under warranty?

According to them - the insured warranty, and AUC warranty - define premature wear in different ways.

just another feck up from Cooper cobham BMW I think. Covering up their own mistake with a juice lie

Insured warranties are a minefield which is why I'll never endorse them.

It was an official BMW warranty though IE "BMW Extended warranty".

But meh. They've payed out on over 3k of work for me this year as things stand. So I endorse my warranty highly. Just not the dealership.

I'm pretty sure that for bad servicing the BMW you want to avoid is Coopers Cobham

Cooper Cobham? But Cooper Cobham is my closest BMW dealer. Cooper Cobham have always given me a good service, but I can't help but feel that Cooper Cobham will charge a premium for ok sevice. Not sure what I'll do now that Cooper Cobham have had such a reputation-bashing.

I think it's a shame you've had such a bad experience with Coopers Cobham BMW however I hope your letter to the service manager at Coopers Cobham BMW gets it resolved for you, then you can use Coopers Cobham BMW in the future with confidence...

It is sad when the only feeling you have when you book your car to a dealer is dread and uncertainty that

a) You won't be able to eat for a month after you swallowed the bill

b) That they will fook up your car so bad you can't even drive it to work to earn to get the bill paid !!!

Very true. And for that reason I would carefully avoid cooper cobham bmw in surrey in future.

FWIW I have STILL not had the time to write the letter however bear with me as I am desperate for resolution to this. Work however has been intense recently which is why I've not been too active online the last week or so.

I look forward to updating you on how cooper cobham bmw in surrey and how BMW Uk customer services deal with my issues with coopers cobham.

Small update:

The sales manager phoned for me 2 days ago. I couldn't take the call but had a voicemail to phone back. I did that, he was then out. So I left a message to call me back haha.

Eventually we might get to speak to eachother

It sounds like they want to resolve this. Will keep the topic updated.
