Hi Caduceus, let me guess you live in the western suburbs of Brisbane and drive a Sedona red 135?

Cozza, having solid white is a bonus, colour is very easy to match; not that I hope you need it (may be for stone chips years down the future)

I'm ringing around today getting quotes, so this has been a useful thread.
38, male, Maroubra, Sydney, no driver under 30, no infringements in last 5 years, 1 minor claim in 5 years, max NCB, rating 1. AAMI $2758 BMW >$3000 ( can't remember exactly how much as I had fallen off my chair) Allianz - refused to insure, based on it being parked in a shared carpark during business hours. It didn't matter that it is a private, corporate carpark, behind a boom gate, with security cameras. (!) My suburb appears to be the issue, as I asked for a requote to a north shore postcode and it came down to just over 2000. On a side note, the girl I was speaking with at AAMI commented that it sounded like a hot car...Gotta love that

And I can get it to $913 with an increased excess with AAMI.

Allianz (BMW) are very good. I had someone run into the rear end on my 118i and it was repaired by BMW's Bodyshop in Port Melbourne.
I used to be with AAMI for over 10 years until I had to make a claim. Shoddy repairs with used parts etc. AAMI insurance is not worth the paper the policy is written on. Thunder135i |

Don't even get me started on how many times I had to take my MR2 Spyder back to have it resprayed after NRMA got their hands on it - this was 2 or 3 years ago though. Was never happy with the final result - had swirl marks all over the door - this is after they tried to get the dirt out of the paint! I just gave up after 3 resprays.

BMW said I could use anyone I choose for my wallaby damage, so I rang my dealer and asked for a recommendation. Not as much choice in Tassie, but the one they recommended is a BMW specialist. So here's hoping

Shannons Quoted $813.00 or $733.00 on production of CAMS license. Conditional on off street parking. If your really old Australian Pensioners Insurance Agency (APIA) quoted $662.59 or $55.21 monthly.

Could be cause you are in South Australia I suppose. I rang them up and they wouldnt even give me a quote..:iono: Told me that they would not be competitive with the majors for this type of car. Didnt even ask for my postcode..how strange.. Then he asked me how much GIO Insurance quoted me ($1450) and then replied that he couldnt go nowhere near that figure. |

When do you guys think is a reasonable time to be seeking insurance quotes that I can trust/don't need to get requoted?
I'm currently with RACV, but have had BMW Insurance before. It was great until the warranty ended and then the price doubled....

A bit of an update-
I spoke to BMW Insurance/ Allianz to get a quote this morning to round things out. They came back with ~$1700, which puts them probably at no.2 on my list in terms of preference but 3rd price-wise. List looks like this:

Hey mattyv - have you tried AAMI? They're worth a shot based on my past experience. Did you contact Allianz directly or only via BMW Insurance?
If you plan to do ANY mods then NRMA is not for you. They refused insurance for me when I did a few minor mods on my MINI. AAMI were only too happy to take my money and have been good to deal with on the one small claim I have made.

Just quoted $1470 by Shannons. They've been dirt cheap over the years for my modded E30 & motorbike but look like they won't be able to compete on the 135, when it turns up...:iono:
