Melbourne Red 228 Gran Coupe M sport package
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com 1994 325is - quaffe limited slip and other track modifications 1997 M3 also with a quaffe and track modifications 2001 Z3 3.0- great autox car 2002 E46 M3- perfect track car- had both the z3 and M3 for 10 years. 2011 1M Coupe - what a little monster 2017 330 ix GT Good car for my knee recovery; only car I have ever owned that I don't miss. The Gran Coupe came with the following: M Sport package Parking Assistance Package Premium Package Remote Engine Start Next time I will add the M brakes. I was tempted with the M325 but I am no longer Tracking or Autoxing and this is enough car for my everyday driving for now. I do wish the mechanical Limited slip were available on this car and this might just tempt me to get the m235 next time. A mechanical Limited slip is a wonderful thing. This car cost almost as much as my beloved 2011 1m coupe. I just retired and moved to the Atlanta to be near family. I tracked and autox from 1992-2016 when I shattered my Knee on my clutch leg. I was driving my 1M in Buffalo NY in the winter and my knee kept locking so I had to go to a 330 gt. This was my first automatic in my life. I hated that car, too big, too heavy with no road or steering feel. I thought the 228 gc was small then I looked up the specs and it is only 1 inch longer than my 2002 M3. It has enough acceleration for congested Atlanta. It's toss able but different from my rear wheel drive cars. It feels more like the Mini Coopermy daughter had. Not a bad platform to base the car on. BMW has had since 2001 to Get it right. I don't know why the reviewers say the steering feel is numb. It goes where you point it in a very reassuring way. I keep it in Sport mode most of the time because I am used to a very stiff, direct handling car. When I am no longer sheltering in place I plan to take a road trip. The same people who say this car not a REAL BMW embrace the stupid crossovers and SUV. Its more of a BMW than my 330GT was. When I got an E36 M3 the naysayers said only the E30 was the real M3. When I got a E46 M3 they said only the E30 is a real M3. Bladerdash. This is a vert car at the right size and price. Let's enjoy them. Last edited by hollysmac; 06-01-2020 at 01:33 PM.. |

Haters be damned, that is a fine looking car. Nice to see something positive on here about the F44, I've considered cancelling my factory order 2GC over the last few days and going for a Mercedes CLA instead but reading your experience has renewed my enthusiasm so I guess I will waiting a while longer but I think it will be worth it in the end. Enjoy your new ride, good health to you sir.

Congrats. Beautiful vehicle. Either this or the 235 will be in my list in a year or two. Nice review too!

congrats on the new car! I received a 228 gc loaner vehicle during my maintenance service last week and the seats were surprisingly comfortable for this sized car.

It's not a real BMW and I certainly don't embrace the SUVs. Nothing more than a desperate attempt to save Mini via platform sharing. Hopefully they go out of business soon and we can get back to proper small cars like the F2x, F87, and E8x 1s

Nice! I like the calling out of people who say Bmw lost its way, but they embrace BMW SUV's.

While I do like the wheels and the red looks good too, I just can't seem to embrace this one. But to each their own and congrats on the new ride.

Congrats on your new 2gc! I bet if the critics of the car actually drove one, they'd be smiling too. Plus, given the list of bimmers you've owned, especially that 1M, I'd say you know what a "real bmw" is.

The paint is nice though. Despite questionable designs BMW always has great paint. If only more people ordered colors that weren't white black or gray.

Congrats! Love the interior of the new 2er gc, the only thing i have against the 2er gc that I cant get past is the non existent holfmeister kink, side profile just doesn't look like a bmw

Congrats on the car!
For the record, BMW has also said FWD cars aren't real BMW's. Not sure about that crossover and suv statement, I think its gotten out of hand. BMW is trying to cater to everyone and with cars like this, it dilutes the brand. View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com |

Serious question. You went from a legendary 1M to a 330GT, arguably the ugliest car BMW made before the G22 4 series and now you have another whopper, the F44 GC.
Do you have a fondness of unorthodox and quirky cars? And yes, I'll agree a FWD hatch short wheel base platform like a Mini is fun to drive, but there's just something unnatural about a supposedly fun small "BMW" being FWD. Fun can be had in FWD or RWD, but there's a reason we prefer RWD. |

All the hate around here for this vehicle, personally think it looks good. Better looking than the upcoming "G". Good luck, fine choice.

Yes and there was a time when people said EV-cars wont ever be mainstream or the combustion engine would be with us forever because that was the epitome of technology. So what we have learned is times change and history is history no matter how stupid a statement has come from a company and i am pretty sure BMW has changed quite a lot sens then, not only due to harder regulations on them but also because people get replaced on the board of directors. And the newer people wants the brand to go in a different direction, and for better or for worse and most of the time change is good and is needed. Unfortunately it seems history is quite hard to let go especially at bimmerposts forums, sens people still can't get over the change that has happened to the 4 series even though the 4 series has only existed with the release of the F series car and that was in mid 2013 and the M4 came in around 2014 and that ain't all to long ago. So if Ford can pull of a crazy as car like the Ford Focus RS is, and i am talking about the previous generation RS with the wonderful diff that it had at the time. I am quite sure BMW can pull of a FWD based car and the FWD based x-drive that is great fun to drive. And still keep in their lineup of great RWD cars and also cater to the FWD crowd. And to OP enjoy the car in good health and start modding the car in anyway you want and start spanking those SUV people
