Production date moved from November to January
Got contacted by the dealer and was told that the expected production date went from somewhere in November to the beginning of January. I ordered a full-option F82 on the last week of August. He could not tell me why I got a later production week.
Anybody else here that ordered theirs the last week of August or first week of September? What is your expected production date? |

Exterior color is AW and full leather in SO. The only option I did not get is the sunroof.
The price was 106.500 euro including 21% VAT but I got it for 90.000 euro including 21% VAT. I don't think that in Belgium they necessarily work with allocation slots. On the computer system they can calculate an estimated production week based on the fact that you order today for example. So assume that someone else did get my allocation and they had to place a new order for mine today, less than 2 weeks later, shouldn't I then get a production week that is then more or less also two weeks later instead of 6 to 8 weeks later. |

Did you get a production number when you placed your order? Unless you get individual colors, they generally don't bump back a production allocation week by two months.
Something smells fishy here. The day you bought your car, they should have given you a production number. And they know what production week their allocation is before they even give it to you, so they should have told you that. |

It's actually not that unusual for production week to move around based on availability of parts etc. BMW will do everything possible to hit the original build date, so don't stress yourself out (from personal experience).
What you should do is call the 1-800 # with your production number, and they will tell you what the original build date was, and what it's been moved to. I hope for your sake that your dealer was being honest about the November build date, but you can find that out quickly by calling bmw directly. If your dealer was being honest, then nothing much to do other than sit tight and wait for your dream car (Easier said than done). |

Sounds like some funky business by the dealer to me. Did you receive a production number after placing your order? its possible the dealer either made a better deal with someone else and gave your allocation away, then assigned you to a later allocation.

Ordered mine on 29th of August, around the same time as yours.
MW/SO full leather. No sunroof. Got my production number from my dealer the same day. The 800 number we call for production status says week 38 production. I still have no specific production date though. My dealership did say it was for 1st/2nd week of September allocation. |

I have a company and when you buy it on the company I guess it is okay. The problem with high emission cars and company cars in general here in Belgium is the eco tax you have to pay out of your own pocket just to be able to drive it which for the M4 is about 500 to 600 euro/month depending on your income.
Just getting a license plate for this car is 5000 euro depending on the region. As lease it is indeed too expensive but I intend to keep this car after the lease and start a collection. |

If a U.S. Dealer was doing this to you i would worry... But I (along with most others here) have no idea how the process works there. Great specs on your order though!

I am going to contact the dealer because he told me delivery could be done in November and apparently it was the lease company that has said January. So maybe the lease company is taking into account a margin? I will update this thread with any feedback.

So I have contacted the dealer and the reason they have told me beginning January is apparently because Athlon Car Lease does not register new vehicles between 15th November and 1st January. This seems to be a common practice by lease companies in The Netherlands en because Athlon Car Lease has a head office in The Netherlands this might explain it.
I have no clue why they have this rule so but it could be related to the car depreciation where they prefer to have the first date of registration in january of a new year, or some tax. I am going to contact Athlon and ask them exactly wth this is about. |

I have asked the BMW dealer to mail me the vehicle production number. The order itself was done end of August by the lease company and not by myself in person at the dealer.

I admit I don't know how it works in the EU, but I do know that without a production number you don't actually have a car. And rather than your production date being pushed back it could be that the dealer doesn't have an allocation for you or gave their next allocation to someone else who paid more.

Wow this is becoming a soap. I have contacted the lease company and they have told me that in Belgium they don't register new vehicles between 15th December and 1st January which is only a 2 week period. They also told me that if the car can be delivered in November that it will be deliverd to me in November.

And now the BMW dealer is telling me that the car will be in Belgium in week 49. Which is basically the first week of December. He gave me the order number but I was expecting a VIN or am I wrong?

Order number - try to call BMW's genius line (if they have it in Belgium) and see if they can confirm that the order number they gave you is a production number.

If you have the production order number, call the BMW genius line if you can. Ask them.
1.844.4GENIUS (443-6487) If you can't call them cuz it's a US number I'd be happy to do it for you if you can PM me your production number. |
