2A9A Camshaft sensor inlet signal, again?
2A9A 10906 Camshaft sensor inlet, signal.
I just recently replaced my Camshaft inlet sensor as well as both intake and exhaust solenoids due to 2A9A, 3100 codes being thrown. Symptoms were intermittent long crank and 1/2 engine light. I could turn off the ignition and restart the car and all was good, for a while. Now a few weeks later, I am getting the same symptoms and codes. I am running Proceed v2.5 and v5 4/23 stage 1 maps. ETS intercooler and BMS DCI. Other then that, the car is pretty much stock. The symptoms seem to appear when the car is warm. I drive the car at lunch time, it sits for a couple of hours, and then bam! Any ideas what else I should be troubleshooting? Thanks. |

Might want to recheck all the connections on the Procede and harness. Clear it and see whether it comes back quickly or takes a while.

Thanks, kinda been there done that. The harness is a fairly new replacement due to issues with the previous harness. All connection appear clean and secure. I did a full reset yesterday. Waiting to see if / when issue returns...

Could be that it has nothing to do with the Procede, too. I'd have to check wiring diagrams, but a bad 5V output, bad ground, or some other issue could be causing the problem. See it somewhat often the older the car is. The voltages and 0V/grounds are soooo sensitive that it doesn't tolerate much of a bad connection.

I'm in the same boat - just got the code two days ago, but I've been too busy to post about it since I hadn't combed the net for an answer yet (search first). My car bogs down when I go WOT uphill, 80-100mph, but only occasionally. I thought it was the plugs and was going to swap them out, but then this 2A9A popped up. Bump for a solution.
*edit: I get 3100 "boost-pressure control, deactivation" also like OP.

Camshaft ledges is another semi common failure in n54s.. Earlier designs had a metal ring around the cams which overtime makes a little groove in the camshaft ledge. The groove results in a little oil pressure drop enough to mess with vanos system and makes throw some random vanos codes.
