i think he tried to give us his impresions after driving the 4s, also i think he tried to tell us that the E90 has more options and more luxurious stuff that u cant find it in the c4s.... like the CA for example....

correct, Thank you.

and I know I should compare with E90 or E92 M3, but the problem is that car doesn't exist in the market yet. (Not in U.S.) So how can I compare now? All I want to share or the message that I want to pass out is e90 does offer some great technology that porsche doesn't offer.

After I have traded my C55 for a 997, I will be able to do the same comparison.

if that's the case, please get the turbo. I just race with the carrera turbo 996 today, totally different animal. with $40,000 different, you are not only getting the different body kit and 80 horsepower, but also different exhast sound, which is sooooo sexy, and different handling. BTW, I race him in the indoor parking lot. Both of us trying to get to the exit, which only can pass one car at the time. Of couse, he won. So maybe have to chip with RUF, or else no comparison...

you can get steering wheel buttons on the 911, it's just a $$ option

porsche does not share parts with VW or Nissan.

any official option list say that we can get multi-function button on 997's steering wheel? my salesman didn't tell me about that...

and a bad old news, Porsche does share parts with Audi and VW. That are just like Banana Republic, Gap and Old lady, sorry, old navy. If you don't believe me, get a VW, un plug the oem spark plug, and read what it says on the spark plug. If you wish, i can quote it to you. Lotus, Audi, VW and Porsche are sharing the products!!! I do have a VW golf MKIV, and I do have the 997, how hard for me to compare the shift knob?

About the Nissan, no relationship with Porsche, but what I'm saying is that they are using the same or simular interior design. Go to Nissan dealer when you have time, ask for fairlady (or you called it 350z), get in to the car, then you will see the window and handle design it's TOTALLY the SAME!!!

If you still not believe me, go buy a porsche, then you will know what I'm talking about now.:rocks:

p.s. Porsche is not as good as you think.

2. Steering wheel. Not mention the m sport steering wheel, even non sport e90 steering wheel will offer multi function buttons, how can the c4s doesn’t come with that?
3. Spoiler. As we all know, Porsche’s spoiler can auto up and down, e90 can’t beats it.
4. The key. E90’s key is smaller and prettier. Porsche doesn’t offer comfort access.
5. Interior door handle. 997 just same with Nissan 350z (also known as fair lady). How can a top line Porsche have same handle with Nissan?
6. Shift knob. 997 have same shift knob with VW. How can this be?
7. Navigation. E90’s i-drive is easier to use. 997’s navi is even more complicate than F-16 jet fighter.
8. Auto on and off headlight. 997 C4S doesn’t have that function. What a joke!!!
9. DTC/DSC. 997 cannot turn it off. E90 can!!!
10. Horse power. No comparison!!!!! Everyone knows e90 is much faster! (j/k) you know the real answer.
11. Sound system. 997 have better sound system.
12. Handling. E90 have better turning ratio, but 997 have better handling.
13. Attract girls. I think 997 is much easier! (not sure about attract guys, tho)
14. Break system. This 997 has PCCBS on it (which Porsche Carrera GTR equipped with), so even Brembo cannot compare with it.
15. Sport shifting. Not available for e90!!!
16. Sport seat. Sorry, but I am almost 200 lbs. so e90’s seat is better for me.
17. Sport clutch. 997 feels like BMW e36’s clutch.

Looks like e90 has more advantages than 997 C4S. (sorry, pictures took by cellphone)

One question for you. I used to sell VW can you please tell me which model that shift knob comes on. Ive sold them for almost 2 years and never saw a vw with that knob. Also post a pic of the interior that had the same knob.
Thanx

head to the builder on porscheusa.com and you'll find the option for multifunction steering wheel in the interior trim options, in the leather, carbon, aluminum...... sections iirc it's almost a $1000 option

I hope your salesman didn't tell you that it wasn't possible just to avoid you being able to get the car you'd wanted. Not sure how porsche isn't as great, it's certainly not as luxurious as a BMW but from a sports car viewpoint BMW can't hang. BMW>Porsche in some things, sportiness not being one of them.

It was never designed to be a luxury , it was initially designed to be pure performance as I'm sure you know. It order to keep up with market demands, Porsche started adding creature comforts and yes I have driven a Porsche. I owned a 1995 993 the last of the air cooled babies, father owned a 69 and 87. BMW probably gives one of the best compromises btwn luxury and performance. I'm 43 yrs old and I've been driving cars for nearly 28 yrs, Chevy's, Fords, Volvos, Nissan's, Datsun's,Toyotas, Mercedes, Jeeps, etc... they each have the Pros/Cons

I love the pure power and torque you get from 996/997 family, so I'm never concerned with the A/C, sound system, etc... while driving a car like that neither should you, just drive the shit out of both:rocks: .

Ever driven American horses like those found in a Viper. Handles like shit, but has "push you back in your seat" torque in every gear. BTW nice car

oh, i see what you talking about now. $740 for non leather 3 spoke multi-function steering wheel. What I have on my car is 3 spoke steering wheel in leather. If I want leather, I can't have multi-function steering wheel. So what i mean by no multi-function offer is not available with leather steering wheel. sorry for cause the misunderstand, and i believe my salesman didn't lie to me.

thank you for sharing the experience about cars. I am only 23, not been driving a lot of cars yet, and as my first post said, 997 is pure sport's car, but since porsche adding more detail features, such as great sound system and sim card on board telephone (forgot to mention about this function in my first post), i wish porsche can think more. Just like ferrari, they will think how to make ppl get out of the car more easier by change the body height and the door's design. Just some little wishes.

i will not mind comparing E90 with any cars which are higher, but I hate to see comparing E90 with cars which are 'lower'. This is just me.

We will see hundreds of M3 E90 comparing 330i, 335i shortly ; so that's nothing new.

Japanese automobile mags also love to compare their cars with top gear. I saw one article comparing the new Acura RL with Ferrari amd Lambo! I even saw Toyota comparing with the Maybach!

Actually I have to say thank you to the originator; that is a real life comparing , without sales talk, without C&D mags being nasty for sake of advertisement. And most important to me, is to futher prove that I am right not to spend my retirement fund for a 997 - no matter how great the name and how expensive a Porsche is , a coupe can only offer that much of funtionalities and should only be used as a 2nd / 3rd car.

The 997 also reminds me the same horror of driving my Z3 in black rain storm.
That 's good. Goodbye 997. I will only be looking at the 2008 C63 AMG Coupe.

I hated VW thats why I sell BMW now. I used sell BMW, Porsche, Audi and VW then BMW built a new 64,000 sq ft building so I did the smart thing and went into the new building. I dont remember any knob being the same from a Golf and the new 997. I know the knob your thinking of and its similar but I would not say its the same one. The 997 is an unreal car and I like the 19" classic wheels you put on it. Cleaner looking than the new 997 19" standard wheels.

X51 will give you some hp and exhast sound.

Regarding to leather steering wheels with multi-function, try "XNS Steering column casing in leather". Attached with pic.

Regarding trun off DSC/DST, you should be able to turn off PSM.

thx, but it's kind of too late to look for the steering wheel now. and as you can see, this wheel is tri-ang. Mine is round. It's different. I am still reading the manual, because i only know the window and door function, but not anything else. Make me feel that I am driving a fighter jet...
