xDrive M3 Comp or RS5 or something else?

Here we go again with my quick turnover of new cars...

I have an opportunity to offload my 2019 RS5 Sportback for what I paid. I've been looking at a few options, but can't seem to decide and would like to hear some opinions on these and other options I may not have considered.

Logical option (for me) would be a 2022 RS5 Sportback factory ordered in a similar spec as I have now. I'm also considering a 2022 M3 Comp xDrive (my dealer has an allocation so it would more than likely be built sooner than an RS5). I've also thought about a Macan GTS.

My must haves are all wheel drive, new, 4 doors, and around the price point of the others mentioned.

Well, similar questions for me in the past.
Macan is different though as is an SUV. However, after playing around with numbers I could not justify the price of the Macan versus the X4 so I bought an X4. Plus I don't like the fact that the rear door has no fender arch and closes over the wheel which exposes the door to elements (plus I find it "unfinished" designwise).
In terms of a sedan, I bought a 2021 M340i Performance Edition xDrive as I can not stand the new M3 design. It is a very nice package put together and a solid contender as it has everything you want and it is close to 400HP.

So, if you can stand the obnoxious beaver grill the M3 is a good choice.

RS5 interior did not change however and for me is not a beautiful one but the new RS6 Avant is a very nice car.

I actually owned a 2020 M340i and traded it for the RS5. It's an amazing car for sure.

You should get a M3 xdrive in Frozen white with Fiona Red interior or Oxide Grey with Silverstone and red calipers and come back to BMW. I actually liked reading your posts. I did the heavy lifting for you so all you have to do now is order it.

I think you can't go wrong with the M3C AWD, make sure to get the M professional package and you've got an all arounder like never seen before.

I’m looking at the same. RS5 SB or M3C. Autogefühl has a good comparison video.

For me, neither car will ever see the track or be driven close to their limit. So I feel like that narrows the gap a little but

The headlights / taillights + animations on the Audi are just awesome. And I think Audi has better lines and a better interior. But that BMW exhaust + engine

I had a very hard time deciding as well. In the end I ordered a similar spec of RS5 as my 2019 but a 2022 model. I know I'm on the wrong forum to be saying this, but I loved everything about the M3 Comp but just couldn't get past the grill no matter how hard I tried to justify all the other positive and some frankly better things it has vs the RS5 (even engine and transmission aside).

I was able to get a slightly better price reduction on the RS5 as well, but it was still more expensive vs the M3. The fact that I have a brand new set of winter wheel and tires for the RS5 that I spent almost $5k on is definitely a bonus. I would not have gotten even half of that back by selling them.

I don't think I'll regret my decision, but looking at my track record I'll just make another change in 6 months! LOL

how do you manage to churn cars so quickly lol.. glad to hear that the current used car market allows you to not take a hit at all

I looked pretty hard at a RS5 (coming from a '18 S4 and loyalty incentive blah blah). You already know all the pros/cons being an actual owner, so all I say is don't you want something fresh after all these B9 cars lol? For my taste I actually liked the driving dynamic of RS5 over the RS6 which I drove back-to-back. The facelift interior is not well thought out tho, deleting MMI controller for touch only, leaving a big hole in the middle, and all the piano black plastic were all annoyances to me.

I get where you are coming from with the Macan GTS, it was also on my list. Pretty much it and the Cayman GTS were the "what can I get for ~100k cad in Porsche land" answers I never had the chance to drive it as dealer sold their demo, but the obvious issue here is the power differential. Although next year they are facelifting it again and deleting the Turbo variant so the GTS should get over 400hp.

I think if you have issues with the G8X looks, perhaps the LCI X3M is a good choice for you. GLC63S / Stelvio QV are the other options I can think of. This segment really needs more choices is what I realize...
