Morning all,

Just wondered if any of you had the software upgrade that enabled Android Auto ?

Picked mine up a couple of weeks ago and a bit miffed it's not on yet even though all the articles I've read say it's coming....

Mine is a 69 plate.

Hello and welcome pss5. Hope you're enjoying the new car.

I also have a 69 plate M135i which I've owned from new since January this year.

Other than the odd map update (one was done from USB and one over the air if i remember correctly) there have been no updates on the idrive on my car until now. The version number on mine is 11/2019.70.

Frustratingly, for over a month, the idrive has been telling me that version 07/2020.54 has been downloaded and that it will tell me when it can be installed.

I spoke with BMW around 10 days ago and they gave me some instructions to refresh the apps but this did nothing.

After seeing your post it reminded me to call them back and I have been told to take a photo of the idrive screen and email it to them so they can put it back to BMW in Germany to get this fixed from there end.

In the idrive you should be able to see the status of the idrive software and see which version you currently have installed. For some reason it appears that those of us with older cars may have an issue with the software update getting "stuck".

Checked mine and stills say no update available and on version 07/2019.39

Hey @pss53, I'm in exactly the same boat as you, '69 plate M135i running software version 07/2019.39 and never had any update.

Had my car at BMW for some warranty work last month and asked it they could force through the iDrive update... sadly they told me there was no update due, and nothing they could do about it!

EDIT: I've just emailed the BMW ConnectedDrive Helpline to see if they can shed any light!

Yes had my update for some time. Nothing too special but of course if you're AA user a very good update indeed!

I received my update a few weeks ago. Two things I noticed with the update:

1. Android Auto - Like Chris said nothing too fancy however I can now use Google maps which has a status-of-the-art voice assistance compared to the BMW one.
2. Window voice activation - love this feature just ask bmw to roll down the windows for you. (that's how lazy I have become) I believe this feature doesn't work for the rear windows

Been told that there's a patch needed from Nov 2019 for any with the 07/2019 stock software - Asked my local retailer if they can get it in and updated - will let you know how I get on

Did anyone with a 69 plate get updated past the 11/2019 version. I’ve had mine to BMW and told no further updates but when I speak to Connect Drive they say at least it should be on 11/2020.

Took mine to JCT600 BMW and got 03/2021 installed without charge, so they was an issue with the OTA updates
