Question Exhaust Valve

Hi,

Does anyone know how to open the exhaust valve on the 2020 228i Xdrive GC? I've been unplugging the wire and it is still shut, I tried revving it to see if it would open and it's not. I also tried to push it open and that did not work. So if someone could tell me how to open my valve that would be greatly appreciated!

I'd imagine it's the same on the 228i, but mines opens when I go into sport?

I started my car in sport and let it idle and it was still closed, I switched between sport and comfort and it was still closed.

Sport mode with wire in, then take it out turn engine off. You tried it that way? Done that with my M235 and it's fully open even in comfort and eco pro

Sport mode should open it though so strange if it isn't

So you want me to start the car in sport with the wire in and then take the wire out and turn off the car and it should be open? Because I started my car in sport mode earlier and let it warm up and nothing happened it was still closed I even tried switching from sport to comfort to hear the opening and shutting noise but I heard nothing. Do you think there is a problem with my car or if someone has another solution?

Yes I had removed it before when I thought removing it opened it then I revved the car with it closed (thinking it was open bc I unplugged it) and then saw it was still shut. I plugged it back in and heard the beep and click. So it's in property but I don't why it's not opening. My 2020 X3 30i valve is open and I haven't even tried anything on the car it shuts and opens when it wants to. But for my 2020 228i I have never seen it be open.... the car has 1600km do I have to wait until I hit 2000km? (the end of the break in period)

Nope I wouldn't say the mileage impacts it, mines has opened since day 1 when it had 3 miles on it. If it's not opening in Sport it may be worth getting the dealership to look at it.

Did you get it working? - I cant open mine, when idle and "cold" engine, but after a run, I can open/close it via the COMFORT/SPORT buttons, when at stand still/idle.

No I did not it still doesn't open... I called my dealership and talked to a service rep he said that since I have no check engine light everything is working as it should. He said there is no way to tell when it'll open or close, and the computer will decide that. So nothing it wrong with my car. Maybe tomorrow I'll take it for a spin and let it warm up and see if switching from sport to comfort allows it to open. He also said the sole purpose of it is to decrease the exhaust noise my 8 (whatever the noise unit is) lol.

As I understand, it is simply sound.. 8 is db/decibel. - That must while throttle is all the way down, in 7000rpm, because the sound does not change notisable when in idle..
