Next question (which I can’t seem to figure out a definitive answer for from older posts): TPMS or no TPMS on the dedicated autox wheel/tire set?
From what I can gather from other posts, with no TPMS you can still turn DSC full off, but end up with comfort mode steering and throttle response. Can anyone confirm from actual experience?

I think it would be tolerable for an MT car. I actually like comfort steering and throttle for more variable input, but it makes the shifting super slow on a DCT car. |

Also, while 71R’s are great on the track, here are my and others thoughts for the street: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1441056 |

Stock = 245/265 = .925 255/275 = .927 255/285 = .895 265/285 = .930 Sure looks like 255/275 Is nearly a dead ringer ratio-wise, 265/285 is pretty darn close too. I don't track much, but have done enough autocross to cook a set of tires every year for the last 7 (in an E36 M3), so am confident saying the RE-71r is fantastic. The Rival S 1.5s I ran last year were great too, but not quite as good cool or wet as the RE71s. The ZII Star Specs and first gen Rivals I ran before that were very good, but not magic like the RE-71rs. In 19" 200 treadwear, I just don't see another tire right now that I'd consider for AX. I'll just live with the on-street poor wear in exchange for the off street performance. On the TPMS issue: it costs a little more to have it, but I think worth the $. Better to be able to have access to what limited modes are available in the M2 (and they are too limited IMO, but that's how it is). I'll run all nannies off for AX, but it's nice to have a little computer backup if it's bombing rain or a friend is trying it out. |

On the ratios, I meant the percentage tread width increase in the fronts and rears. Tirerack shows treadwidth measurements for each size and even if you give some of the measurements a couple extra tread width tenths bc of differing wheel sizes used by Tirerack vs OEM, the percentage change in the front and percentage change in the rear matches up best with 255/285. |

I think ECS is going to get me with their email marketing ;-)
Their marketing email today had a blurb about a 25% sale off of Alzor wheels. I think I'm going to the pull trigger on these. I'll need a spacer up front, but for the price I don't think I can go too terribly wrong.

I need stock widths for street class. The price on the Alzor wheels is pretty compelling too. Since they’re only going to be used for auto-x, lower cost makes them easier for me to consider them expendable.

I pulled the trigger today and ordered a set of Alzor 040 18x9/18x10 wheels and an H&R front bar from ECS. Now I need to grab a pair of 8mm or 10mm spacers and extended bolts for the front.
I'll post up some pics once I get them.

Hoping they have adequate brake clearance. Not all 18s do. Fingers crossed. The spacers may make the difference.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 30 profiles?
There are a couple sizes that I am wondering would fit on stock wheels/suspension...
275/30-19 (f) & 295-30-19 (r) They are very similar in diameter to the OEM tires, just wider. Will they fit/clear? [Dedicated 18" wheels with RE71's in the future, but short-term need a new set of daily driver tires... fronts bald at outside edges at 7K miles thanks to several auto-x events] Last edited by young1; 01-09-2018 at 05:16 AM.. |

fyi, I put a 295/30-19 tire from my E46 M3 CSL wheel on the M2 rear and it seems to clear fine. So... I just need to determine if a 275/30-19 tire will clear in the front. Thanks in advance for any shared experience... yo, Tirerack dude?
Here's a pict of 295/30-19 tire mounted on 10" CSL rim on my E46 M3 as requested... (one of the reasons I put a larger tire on this daily driver rim was to reduce the car-wash curb-rash). Since then, have found car washes with the new conveyor belt transport (GREAT improvement). Last edited by young1; 01-08-2018 at 05:15 PM.. |

275 section width tire will fit (on a 10 inch wheel with et28 or lower), but will poke. See here:

I'd read somewhere 285 was max width recommended for 10" wheel. Please post up photos of OE rear wheel with 295 tyres on as curious to see how they look in reality.

I've seen some crazy stuff over the years in stock class. A multiple national title winner in solo and pro solo here locally used to have an Integra Type R which required 6" stock width wheels, but he stuffed 275 Hoosier A6s on those. In any event, a 295/30 is fine on a 10" wheel. In fact the TRA (tire and rim association), which maintains the industry standards, shows a recommended wheel width of 10-11" for a 295/30-19, so it is officially a recommended fitment (not that anybody in street class pays much attention to these, lol). Regards, Chuck

So... has anyone tried a 275/30-19 front tire on a OEM front wheel? Or can someone report on amount of remaining tire clearance on a 265/30-35/19 tire?
Thanks! |

I have an RMA from ECS, so they'll get shipped back for a refund. I should have known it was too good to be true. At this point I think I'm just going to go with the EC-7s. They're known good and won't need any spacers.
