vibrating drilled brakes
Hi All
I have an e46 m3 where under firm braking the pedal (not steering wheel) vibrates around 40mph but never at any other speed. eg 35-0 - no vibration, 80-50 no vibration, 60-20 = vibration around 40mph. no vibration if not braking. braking from 80-20, vibration starts around 50mph, peaks about 40mph and is gone by 30mph. bmw dealer has looked at it and said nothing is wrong - its normal for drilled brakes. when asked they also reckon it will be the same on new v8 m3. so my question is - for all people with e46 and new v8 m3s with drilled brakes - do you get any annoying vibration through the pedal? or any other car with drilled brakes? disks and pads are all standard etc and all new as of this year - fronts are only 2 months old. surely if it was uneven wear or debris etc they would of picked up on it? thanks for help. |

I never owned an e46 so I don't know, but my e92 brake pedal never vibrates. I do hear the occasional brake squeaking though.

I have drilled rotors on my 330 and I do notice a louder humming sound when coming to a stop. I haven't noticed a vibration though.

Your brakes should never vibrate - if it does, either your discs has warped or something has gone wrong. Best to get it checked out asap.
