I honestly dont think it looks bad. Bmw needed an entry level hatch and this is it. Dressed up it looks decent.

I know where my money would go, based on the exterior - Ford Focus - no doubt at all.

Not sure Ford is going to sell the new Focus in the US, but if they would sell the RS here again... Not sure where BMW is going with it's grille designs...

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I wouldn't say exact the same (the 5er, X3, X5 or Z4 interiors don't look exact the same to me, while the 8er interior actually is totally different), but yeah they became pretty similar (but also because of the digital cluster, since they really look almost the same now, but same with MB, Audi etc.). Mercedes is currently actually even worse when it comes to distinguished interior designs.

I'm tired of complaining about the "purist" reasons (fwd, no 6-cyl etc). But I just found a new reason to be upset! My god this is an ugly car. The side profile in particular is hideous with the obviously FWD proportions...
I guess the reason why older BMWs tend to look better in time is because the newer ones look even worse! The non-LCI F20 1er looks pretty decent next to this F40. |

What's really funny is that BMW is making the outside of the cars of each series look different from each other, but the insides are almost exactly the same. I dare say that the f-gen BMW's interiors differentiated more than it does now.

M Performance package looks like a leftover parts bin exercise.
Reminds me of this...
