Mil.Spec
Hi Folks,
My last car was 2010 Mistubishi Evo X. Great track car straight from the factory. But the motor was lacking...After getting a tune I still felt like it needed more. The next logical evolution (no pun intended) in my mod progress was to get a down pipe. There are tons of choices in the Evo market, but I really wanted one with a cat. To my taste, a 300 cell cat was too restrictive and a 100 cell was just like having none at all. Plus with the 100 cell cat there was an undesirable smell associated with the exhaust. So I purchased a 200 cell catted DP from Mil.Spec. Before installing it, I had the chance to thoroughly examine the product. I was incredibly impressed with the extremely high quality of the construction. Performance was amazing! This was one of the best mods I put on my Evo. With that experience in mind, I contacted Mil.Spec to build a one-off 200 cell catted DP for the 328i. After doing some research on the N20/N26 market, they agreed to help. Our conversations drifted (again...no pun intended) into an analysis of the paucity of cat back systems for this car. Since there is not much power to be gained in that area, we decided to fabricate something that would be much lighter than the OEM system. IMHO putting the car on a diet would add more performance than horsepower alone as it would have collateral benefits on braking and handling. Over the next couple of weeks I will drop my car off with their fabricator, have the DP made and try out a few different configurations of the muffler. My personal goal is a slightly deeper exhaust note without being obnoxious and without any drone. All construction of the final retail product will happen here in So Cal. They have requested at least 10 people commit to a group buy. I realize that it is unrealistic to ask folks to make such commitment without knowing price, sound, power, etc...But in an effort to gauge interest I am posting this message. Please indicate in response to this thread whether or not you would be interested in a 200 cell catted DP and all aluminum v-banded cat back exhaust. I am really excited to work with Mil.Spec and have very high expectations! Thanks and I will keep everybody posted on the progress. |

i come from same evo ix scene as you.. mil spec cats are very nice indeed.. not sure if youll get enough serious interests from 328 owners (inc myself). i would not want to deal with smog hassles and potential emission tickets.. esp not when i got this car for dd purpose in mind..
but nonetheless i can vouch for their quality.. i miss my evo lol |

Definitely interested in the downpipe. You and I seem on the same page with regards to smell. However, cat back not so much..unless they could pull off the sound of . Not necessarily all the goodies. Single pipe is fine for me.

Sounds interesting to me, but I would like to make sure that it is a bolt on for the N26 and hear some videos of it with the stock exhaust. I have the M perf exhaust and would like a bit more noise myself
