2007 bmw 335 cobb beta testing
I am currently trying out the Cobb accessport beta trial on my 07 335xi. I thought we could all share our experiences with this new product.
I just attempted to flash my ecu using the ap and first encountered an error saying the there was a connection error. I called Cobb support and Chris one of there techs was very helpful. He informed me I needed to update the ap unit with the newest software from the ap manager downloaded off of the Cobb website. This was incredibly easy and intuitive. I then attempted to flash my ecu now having my ap equipped with the current beta software for the 07. This time the ap showed an error that my vehicle was not recognized. Once again I called up the guys and Cobb support and they informed me that means I have on of the 07 ecu units that are requiring some in house work to set up the flash for. My understanding is the 07 335's ecu units communicate in 2 ways as opposed to the newer 335s which was part of the delay in releasing the ap for the 07s, further more like my car some of the 07s have an ecu rom that is not recognized by the ap without the guys at Cobb doing a little extra work back at their shop. This means I downloaded my ecu data onto the ap(again extremely easy to do) and emailed it over to Cobb. They told me to expect an email in 3-5 days notifying me of a update that would allow me to flash my ecu. I am anxiously awaiting the update. I can't wait to see what this flash will do. Sorry about being long winded this is my first post. I will post again when I have more news on my tune. |

Does anyone know if the ECU is relative to the production date of the car?

Under the release notes history, what is the date of the last firmware update listed? As of right now, the last update is listed on mine at 2/23/2011, and it is saying it is currently up to date/no new updates, and it won't talk to the car....
EDIT: Nevermind, I realized that under options the "Check for Beta Firmware" checkbox wasn't checked. We'll see how this goes as it looks like checking that checkbox found more updates.

you need to click the "beta" button so it updates to beta versions of firmware.

I've been running the tune since Monday. Feels great. However, my butt dyno isn't very accurate since I haven't had a tune in my car in two months.
I'm having DPs installed tomorrow and I'm going to get some dyno pulls in with and without Cobb. I'll post the results sometime over the weekend. |

I see what a previous poster was saying about throttle repose. It does have that near on/off feel. Don't really mind it though. Last edited by acdHQK713K; 03-31-2011 at 10:05 PM.. |

Had the Cobb Beta AP installed in my 2007 335i 6mt yesterday at the So. Cal. location. Ronnie was great he walked me through the whole process, showed me how to access all the features and even gave me a tour of the whole facility. The tune is running flawless! Very satisfied with the results!!!

Maybe I have always had a lead foot, but the throttle feels perfectly fine to me. It suits my driving style just fine

+1 I emailed them my stock ROM last night... got an email saying they had added support to my firmware version this afternoon! Wicked fast turnout time. I'm also at altitude, and plan on posting a review that will compare against stock & JB4 (maps 1 & 5), as well as posting datalog comparisons and dyno charts. Eventually, the same will come when I eventually get a chance to tune this bugger with ATR software

Nice! I have 3 hours of dyno time next saturday. Im fully bolted with meth (no catback because I just don't like the extra decibels)...I'll be doing some logs and dynos of the latest Procede v5 and then some AP pulls. I can't wait for ATR either Ronin - I am shocked I don't remember you though - I come from mazdaspeeds as well.

Curious to see Jakes and Brandons results.
Jakes car has been sort of slower than expected on the DIC maps based on a couple of cars that hang right with him. As for Brandon, I feel that stage 1 will drop timing for you at your elevation. Given your altitude I feel that ATR is your only solution. |
