Urgent: M Sport/Performance Brakes Question
All, before you kill me because I know this has been posted about, trust me I've read every post and thread I could find on this topic...
I'm about to visit my dealer at noon to talk about ordering a 335i US M-Sport trim and I'm trying to get the M Sport Brakes (blue ones) added like they have in Canada for $350. They are telling me that I can only get the M Performance Brakes which are $2800-$3000 though. I've begun seeing people selling the M Sport Brakes though for $11-1300 in the US so I'm assuming somehow people are ordering this option and getting it, then opting to sell them for the M Performance Brakes and selling these to make up about $800-1000 back (Pay $350 for M Sport Brakes, sell for $1300, buy Performance Brakes for $2800, net cost of Performance brakes are now only $1800). Can anyone help? I'm going to the dealer at noon so I only have an hour or hour and half at max for any insight. Thank you!! |

Here the MSport brakes are mechanically and physically identical to any other line aside from Euro Brake pads. The M Performance is an upgrade and can be purchased from BMW dealers for about $2k front and rear plus install. If you want to have it done at the port, negotiate. You can print out the other dealer sources at $2k as a bargaining tool.

Can I buy the M Sport Brakes (blue) separately as a replacement part then install them on my US F30 as an "after market" even though it's OEM parts from Canada/UK/Europe?
428 and 435 do show 2HN offering in US so maybe I could even order those and put them on the 335i/328i?? |

You would be doing a lot of complicated things to basically have painted brake calipers which you can have a shop do for a couple hundred bucks. MPerformance would be a real upgrade as the calipers are beefier 4 piston versions in place of two.

Mmm I can't speak for US, but for Sweden (where I live) I just ordered the M Sport Brakes upgrade (2NH) from factory. This also gives me larger brakdiscs since my winter tires had to go from 17" to 18" (and that is with just a few of the 18" wheels, like the M sport 18" (model 400?)). So here we seem to get larger brake disks as well.
It would be nice if someone - once and for all - could figure out what exactly happens when one orders the M Sport Brakes.... And what is included in the normal M Sport package.... |

Nothing is upgraded from any other line, only the brake pads which are Euro market. That is IT.

While we are on the subject of M Performance brakes, does anyone know if there is any difference between M Performance BBK's for 328's and 335's?

The 328 requires the upgrade on the rear rotors, many dealers have this as a package or $200ish extra for the rotors. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Big-Brak...1c7281&vxp=mtr

We need to get an updated sticky with good info. I can't go measure my brakes right now to check.

Euro M-Sport brakes with blue calipers are IDENTICAL to the M-Performance brakes offered everywhere, same size discs, same calipers etc. Only difference is that the M-Performance ones have slotted discs. Thatīs it.
They are not "just painted blue" like someone here mentioned....

Blue M sport brakes are 4-piston units at the front, 2-piston units at the rear. So if you have a 328i or 335i with stock M sport and buys a the M performance brakes you get more than a new color. But if you have the upgraded blue calipers you just need the discs as they are the same size as the M performance ones. You have to factor that the blue M sport brakes are $1000 premium over the already included brakes. If add it all up it will be the same price basically. As Rossifumi wrote, its much more expensive HERE, Europe, where we pay almost twice what you pay for the F30s.
