FMIC or DP's?????
Hey guys, now that I have the JB3 installed with my DCI and Britalman cat-back exhaust, I'm torn between catless DP's or a FMIC.
I live in AZ and the summer heat is horrible. 100+ on a daily basis. Which should I do first??? Some good deals on some new/used DP's + 02 sims right now Thanks for the help! |

yes which is why I've been leaning towards FMIC. However I am new to the modded N54 and haven't experienced it in the heat yet...So I don't exactly know what to expect with the temperature increase.
Plus $ for hp DP's are quite a bit more affordable... Are our cars that bad in the heat? |

Where do you get this from? I wouldn't say "quite a bit" more affordable at all, if you keep VK's DP's out of the picture. Theirs are outliers in the pricing range of DPs and you'll probably end up paying more for install for the DP's, which will tend to bring them closer in price.
Plus, with the heat in AZ, I'd go with the FMIC anyway, but that's just me. |

Trust me. From someone living in South Texas.....get a better inter-cooler.
You can add down pipes at some other point.

Get a intercooler or oil cooler before downpipes if you live in hot weather. I have all three and it pays to have it run cooler.

Wow seems like this one is a pretty easy decision! Lol.
Now it's the battle between brands.... been researching trying to narrow it down but there are a lot out there that people claim to be great... |

I'm going to be biased and "recommend" the Helix although I have yet to install it. All of the reviews are going to show performance gains with maybe 2-3 hp of each other.
If I hadn't opted for the Helix then I would have gone with the Code 3, RPI or Active Autowerkes ...... in that order. |

There are comparisons all over the place.... And general concensus is that they're all a million times better than stock. Basically, you're just going to have to rely on your research skills because there is no right or wrong answer.

hm...maybe i should look into an intercooler as well. though it doesn't get into the 100's here, it does easily reach 90's.
seems to be wiser to do that, and if you dont have an oil cooler i would hold off on getting that till after you try out a meth system or wait for reviews. i believe someone said it did a really good job in keeping oil temps in check. still good to have an intercooler for it will reduce stress on the turbos from the pressure drop:-)...if i remember correctly that is. teri

VK is trying to do a crazy special on their IC pushing for <$600 and STETT is running their special for $910 IC w/ free CAI (I just bought this) until Thursday. VK sounds like it'd be good for you as it's a drop in replacement and crazy cheap .

Thanks for all the input guys! I'll start the research process and see what I find. Sounds like VK might not be a bad route for the $$$ if the fitment and quality are good.
I have the Oil cooler now...but damn it's hot outside...and will be til october. |
