The CLA45 AMG wins because of their lovely 2.0T engine alone.

From a performance perspective, isn't it better having the front calliper toward the back end of the wheel, i.e. not the leading edge? For better cooling flow to pads etc.
What I have read is that drive shaft layout to the front wheels is what moves the calipers to the leading edge. Between the steering and suspension knuckles combined with drive shafts, not much space is left to have calipers towards the back of the wheels. Packaging gets very tight, and yes having calipers towards the back is better from a braking stand point.

I looked at it for a while. And honestly, it looks better than a lot of economy competitors. However, those are priced at 20k, not over 30k. And they aren't BMWs.

CLA and A class also look like proper Mercs, while the 2GC could be a number of different cars.

First glanceI thought it was a Subaru form the side.

I'm surprised no roundel on the C-Pillar like the X2.

Surprisingly the roundel works on the X2, but it also has a big C-pillar, probably wouldn't work as well here

I really had high hopes for an e46 revival.

Not sure what this is.

The car seems both stylistically and mechanically phoned in.

Bmw invested a billion dollars in the development of the e46 which became an icon.

This seems like minimal development, a recycled mini, with a lot of badges. More badges.

How Mercedes is pioneering in this segment and BMW is not is beyond me. Truly backwards times we live in

With the 4,6,8GC, I get it, they have low, coupe-like roofline which make the car lower and wider looking. But this 2GC looks like a normal sedan, with a normal sedan roofline, that's much taller than any existing GC. So, why not just call this a 1 Sedan?
Frameless door glass. Probably a lower roof than the 1.

I don't understand all the comparisons to Toyota, Kia, Ford Focus etc??? All of those cars look drastically better than this abomination.

I had high hopes for this car. Now I find myself reaching for pencils, jamming them up my nostrils, and banging my head on the desk. Are we ever going to learn who the designer is that can make Bangle look like a genius by comparison?

The tail lights are incredibly oversized for this car, what were they thinking?! Also, the wheels look absolutely tiny in comparison to the headlights and the tail lights, makes it look weak and completely frail.

This thing is approaching Prius levels of ugly and bland. The Pontiac Aztec was ugly, but at least it looked differently from everything else on the road - it had a personality. This thing is not only hideous, it also completely lacks a personality. Looks like what they give you when order the cheapest subcompact rental car at Avis. So bland and unforgettable you don't even know what car it is.

Also people comparing this Kias, the Stinger is about 100 times better looking. Please don't insult it like that.

The new Mazda 3 looks better than this car inside and out at half the cost and prob twice the reliability.

Come on BMW, I know you wanted to play in the FWD market but you can do better than that.. Im not saying that the Mazda 3
is the complete package but the Audi S3 & CLA are leaps ahead of this ( atleast the pics until we see in person ).

The FWD proportions kill it....
