if you speak about boost control, gfb will only control the boost and your tune will adjust accordingly. however, I dont have experience with this, but post I read only says this cause issues more than anything else.

full reflex is a popular option and its solid, fits a couple of tunes and very good for port injection. If you dont go port, this might be a expensive box.

You can go full MHD too, very simple and it gives you ton of option. At this point you'll probably need MHD no matter what, start with that, and update when everything is running fine.
MHD can control the boost via the wastegate from the DME (you need to tap a wire to the harness for the mac solenoid)

are you installing the kit yourself ?

No the cars already in the shop for maintenance with tranny out so I’ll be getting it installed from them , I’ll be porting my head and running PI in the near future motive reflex is not cheap lol I want to do all that at once. I want the car dialed so I can drive it and enjoy in summer for the time being and then get rest of upgrades done before next season.

high side is pretty simple, only hoses and the can required. On ali there's exact copies from real brands.
Vacuum side need a new PCV with a connection, and smaller hoses. Since I dont connected the CC back to the intake ( or charge pipe with check valve) I kept my high side open to atmo, and I simply kept the vacuum side OEM, but with a metal upgraded pcv valve.

I run meth, so shouldnt be that bad on carbon built.
Same if you go port.

for now, Im thinking doing the 1/16'' fuel rail drill and remove the HPFP filter and add a 10micon inline instead. Apparently this increase the available pressure a lot ! So I can push high numbers stock DI.

(I have a 450lph LPFP)

reflex kit is not cheap, but people love them.

You can gamble on a cheap used JB PI kit if you want.
JB is not that bad, the BIG issue, there's no guide nor info how to set it , and info you found online is wrong since they change the way to operate JB4 g4 to the g5 , without any indication !
I read all the post about that, test and error it, but it works !

those engines are maintenance expensive. imo if you put a 6k$ you do the big items

N54 issues : coil packs, injectors and HPFP last gen. Only this, can cost the car value.

Still, is probably the cheapest car to own for the HP ratio.
I can't see other 600bhp capable car for that price.
Even my bro, bought a new golf R mk7.5 few years back, put all bolt ons required to push 400bhp. Its fast for a R, but still, 400bhp and with the car he put what ? 60k$ + . While I'm at around 20k$ and still need to part out my donor, expecting few hundred in part. so far I sold for 1500$, expecting an other 2000$.

This year I,ll hold on 15-17psi max, break down the car, and see how it goes.
still looking for index 12 , I need only 3.

even at 15psi, is insanely fast, and it spool quite fast (62mm with ballbearing)

Nice, I’ve done a lot of maintenance over the winter myself like index 12 injectors, waterpump/thermostat, sparks n coils right now it’s at the shop for rear main seal, valve cover, power steering pulley (etc) spending around the same amount as the kit for maintenance, atm there’s also other small things but I’m getting all oil leaks dealt with first. I jus want to get it running right now and get the kit installed and save up and go all out for next season.

people go typically between 10-13psi spring pressure.
I dont recall the spring color on my Tial, but I think I used 3 spring, and got 11.6 psi on the chart. The boost gauge reads about 12psi on map1, so seems to be precise.

right now Ive set the car to 15psi max, with a 20psi overboost safety.
End goal it to get nice log with my actual setup , and dial it a bit down. 23psi is my end goal, should be in the 550bhp range with my turbo size.
