Retractable tow bar and bike racks

Hey guys,

Has anyone got an X3 G01 with the retractable tow bar option? I am based in the UK if that makes a difference?

I have a couple of quick questions about compatibility between this and a Thule bike carrier.

If anyone does have this option, and wouldn't mind sparing two minutes, please drop me a reply or a DM.

Thanks!

Hey Dzo,

I am looking at the THULE VELOSPACE XT 2 BIKE RACK and it states on the description (here https://www.rosebikes.co.uk/thule-ve...e-rack-2665329 ) that it may not be compatible with BMW:

"Due to the clamping mechanism not compatible with trailer hitches by BMW with a steel locking pin that goes completely through the ball!"

So my question is, does the tow bar that comes on the G01 X3 have this "steel locking pin that goes completely through the ball"?

Any help hugely appreciated

I don’t know what that steel locking pin could be.
There is nothing going through the ball.

If I ever succeeded to post a pic in this app I’d just take a picture...

It’s just a bar with a ball at the end.
At the proximal end there is the plug.

out of topic, but in android app, you just hit the paperclip icon and you can attach a picture from.the gallery on your phone. I have zero problems with that.

I use the 3 bike Thule Easyfold XT and it's fine, even though it has the same comment on the website that you linked. It's necessary to connect the 13 pin connector before placing the rack onto the hitch, otherwise the connector cannot be rotated into place, but the cable is long enough to allow this.

Ah awesome thanks for confirming that! Excited for this now. No more roof racks and forgetting the bike is on the roof...

In Netherlands, BMW sells a bike rack as optional accessory, which is actually made by UEBLER. You may want to check that out:
