virginia drivers...
Any of you other VA drivers not get the front license plate on your e90? If so, have you gotten a ticket and how much was it?

I've had my e90 for just over 3 weeks and without a front plate. No ticket yet! I'm keeping my front plate in the little storage area in the trunk in case a cop ever asks me.

va driver with no plate
I've had my e90 since end of May with no plate and no tickets (yet). My sales guy told me that it is technically not illegal and that if I were stopped could take it to court and "get out of it". Not sure this is actually true, though. BTW, live in the Tidewater area.

I have an e46 coupe I bought in 2002 and I've yet to put on the front plate. I do keep the bracket in the truck, just in case. No worries/ tickets so far. I'm commonly asked how do I get away with not having one. My response is . The cops just don't seem to care.

In NJ you are getting nailed for that ticket even if it's displayed in the front windshield. |

I know DC meter/parking enforcement will ticket for MD or VA cars if they don't have a front plate. It comes up all the time on Dr Gridlock in the Post. Even if the VA cops don't seem to care, others do, and just you try getting out of a ticket in DC

Fairfax City is notorious as is all the other towns and cities inside Fairfax County. BE aware of Town of Vienna and the City of Falls Church as well.
Back on topic.... I purchased my 330i (E90) from BMW of Fairfax and they delivered it WITH the front licensce plate bracket attached and at no additional charge. I think it blends in with the bumper very well. I also have a replica 427 Cobra and keep the front plate just behind the passenger seat ready for deployment onto the dash board when it is needed. So far so good no problems. |

Many will disagree with you regarding the look, but if you like it I prefer not to have one. |

I know this is a bit off topic, but which dealer do you guys think has the best service department in the DC metro area? I am just beginning to think about replacing my way too-big 7 series with a new e90. I have been going to independent shops, but with a new 3er, would want to find a good dealer for maintanace and warranty work.

Well because of full maintenance I am going to continue taking my car to BMW of Fairfax. So far so good.... unless there is a serious problem with their service department.
