torn between 128Ti and M135i
Need some help. Chopping in my 530e canal barge for either one of the above (something a bit more fun)
Been watching countless YouTube videos of people saying the 128Ti is the better car (and less money as well as out of the premium road tax bracket) The M135i works out to be about £60 more a month with adaptive suspension, but obviously more expensive on road tax (not an issue) My concern is here. Is the 128Ti really better than the “improved” M135i? And what are people getting MPG wise driving them sensibly in Eco Pro mode (for longer commutes) All help is appreciated! |

Going to test them both today and decide. Needs to be comfortable in longer drives (opted for adapting suspension) but also firm enough to have fun with.

From what I've heard 128TI is pretty stiff, to the point that some people complained about it.
M135i is, on the other hand, very comfortable. Firm, but enjoyable. Adaptive suspension doesn't change a whole lot though, maybe just a little bit. |

So would you say the adaptive isn’t worth it? Would you take the H&k sound over the adaptive?

Went for the M135i with the adaptive, was a lot more of a pleasant drive than the 128Ti is in my opinion. Feels tighter and more refined! |

Great choice. What colour paint and inside? Had mine 30 months 10,000 miles and faultless. Average 36 UK mpg and I have been in Germany for 12 months driving hard. My other car, just arrived, is a new 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cab and the BMW still appeals.

I went for the Alpine white (nicest colour out of the 5 options in my opinion) with the Alcantara interior. Kept it pretty stock other than the adaptive/privacy glass and H&K sound system. I am more than happy with 36mpg! I currently have a 530e which averages about 60mpg but when you account for the cost of electric it ends up being more like 35mpg! 😂 |

I think if you drive controlled in UK 40mpg will be possible. I now get on the autobahn a lot and I don't hang around accelerating and with the speed. Compared to the 911 the engine also warms up to operating temperature much quicker, allowing full throttle use. I would also say the build quality between the 2 is very similar. The BMW OS is also a bit better. 911 is special and iconic though and even though not run-in yet makes the BMW feel a little sluggish - which it is not! Bike and gym get more use and have way more miles than both.

I was thinking of a 128ti too before buying the M135i. Absolutely no regrets now. It is awesome during Winter btw. I like the M135i more than I thought

I may be of some assistance here having been on my 2nd M135i in as many years (problems with the first one).
First time I ordered with 19's and passive. Hated the ride. When I had the opportunity to re-order the car I went straight in the for 18's on Adaptive. Personally find it a very worthwhile addition and notice the difference immediately. It looked better on the 19's but I cared more about my time 'in' the car. my 2c

It really depends on your priorities.
Which is more likely for you: riding your car with that 500 pounds in your pocket wishing you had ordered that active suspension, or riding your active suspension equipped car and wishing you had those 500 pounds back? I personally would buy it not to think "what would have been". But my approach is a little bit extreme, because I order all the options I'm even remotely interested in. To not later regret not having them. Quote:
Fair comparison would be between 18" in both cases (fixed and adaptive). |

Well I am glad based on both your responses I am glad I went for it. I could happily blow £500 on a holiday and regret it vs spending £500 on suspension that makes me happy for years 😂 |

I can easily get between 40 and 45 mpg average out of mine on a 60/70 mph run down UK dual and motorways… adaptive cruise helps as it adapts to the mode you are in so not aggressively re-accelerating… with 300+hp even gentle acceleration will keep you ahead of following traffic so eco-pro is not annoying others..

I have 18” on passive and don’t wish for active… Ride is sensitive to tyre pressures also…
