Why do some of us . . .
PS out our license plate numbers when we post photos of our vehicles online? I was trying to think of a reason why I would care and I can't come up with one.
By the way, it's 10:30 Wednesday morning, PST, do you know where your E90 is? |

Have had cases here of people finding a car online thats their exact spec but lives in another part of the country, and then copying the plates
Alo you dont know who is seeing all your pics and you may not want them to recognize you out in the world |

Also, some people might have individual identifier info in their profiles, and identity thieves and unscrupulous people gather as much information about their victims as possible. It's just another piece of the puzzle.

i got sick of doing that, it just ruins the whole pciture sometimes for a pshop-failure like me, i just put a big white box and it makes my car look like a get-away-chased-by-cops criminal car on Cops.

Here's what I did
This took about 2 minutes with Irfanview - hides my plate but doesn't ruin the picture:

With most state DMV agencies, for a small fee they will give you the address a plate is registered to.
If you wanted to steal a certain color or optioned out E90, knowing where one lived would make it easier. |

Personally I would not want to disclose anything about my identity openly over the internet.
I reckon we should do a similar thing to what the hollywood folks did with the "555" prefix on telephone numbers - come up with a standard number plate that people can paste onto their cars
