Steve:

Great write-up! As you might imagine, I NEVER have a bad day while working at the Performance Center....Just some days are better than others. Thanks to you, this was one of those better days! It is always great to see someone from one of the Boards. Take care, Donnie

Hey... what's with all the winning going on down at the PC? Y'all have some very optimistic usernames!

I have never heard of anyone having a less than great experience taking delivery at the PC... and that is saying a lot about the quality of the program and the great staff there! I was this close (thumb and forefinger about 1/8" apart) from doing PCD with this car.... I think I MUST do it next time!

Beautiful car, and PCD is the shiznit if practical. I didn't get to see the museum when I visited, due to shutdown for changeover to new X5 production. I need to go back!

I have just one question - all you guys who are actually liking dinner at the Greenville Marriott, what the heck are you having? I stay at that place about 6 times a year (was there last night in fact) and every single meal I've had there as been marginal at best!

Fantastic write-up and photos on you PDC experience and meeting your local serial killer as well!

I almost makes me wish I lived on the east coast.

Almost.

I think the flavor and ambiance is enhanced by the fact that they know tomorrow is the long awaited delivery date and that BMW is buying the meal.

Hot dogs always taste better at the ball park... but they are the same crap you can get at the supermarket.

I know this is off topic but I cannot resist. I worked in upper management for Marriott for 19 years and the food is, as KevinC noted, marginal at best. Fifteen years ago they actually took pride in the food they severed and had chefs that prepared the food on premises, but that cost them too much money. The food has come from cans now for many years. Marriott's larger hotels like the Marqui's and the resorts still have chefs, but the smaller properties do not. I spent a week at the Marriott in Waikiki a month ago and the food in the "Marriott" restaurants there sucked too though.

We get very competitive here on the course, hence the names. Donnie thought he willwin2day, unfortunately I-Won-Today

Regarding the food at the Marriott. They do have a full time chef there. They prepare a special menu for our guest and events that we host there. I don't think most of our menu choices are on their regular menu (at least it wasn't back in December of 2006). But as LedZep mentioned, the enviroment to which you are eating to makes a world of difference.

It was my pleasure, even if I was getting lots of crap from fellow board members that it was taking so long to post after I got home!
As a matter a fact, I purposely told the Mrs. to smile, because I remembered how when LZ picked up his new ride, the commentary was this:

As Jonathan mentioned, there is a special BMW Performance Delivery menu, but those same items are on their regular menu. My wife and I had the filet mignon, which was very good and another delivery guest had the catch of the day which was swordfish. Also very good was his comment.

Congratulations Steve! That sounds like it was an amazing experience, I'm really hoping I'll be able to do either that or European delivery on my next try. Thanks for all your insight & help along the way - I'm sure I'll be bugging you again the next time around Be careful with her and have a blast
