Since my last fill up I've done 323 miles and averaged 30.3mpg.

That's all town driving and maybe 3 or 4 "for the hell of it" drives, a couple through the twisty stuff and a couple into the city and back.

My everday trip is a couple of miles through the town.

Sitting at 33.2 mpg at the moment. Not reset since I was travelling back to the UK for Christmas 2008. Dropped a bit recently with the cold weather. Was hovering over 34 mpg for ages.

You will find your mpg improves slightly when the ambient temperature rises.

So 33.2mpg combined over the past 4 months including a couple of motorway runs?

Ah, my mistake, meant Christmas 2008. A year and 3 months worth. Edited it. Came back from Switzerland through the Tunnel, then went through London then up home to Scotland - at that time averaged 40.9 mpg - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192167

Back in Summer again in 2009, so 2 trips across Europe and the rest pottering about town.

Wow, so over a year with mostly town driving and a couple of big runs you're still over the 30mpg mark!

See this is what suprises me, you're in a 320d and only getting about 6 mpg more than me? Or are you just bouncing it off the red-line everywhere you go?

Average low 20's now

Haven't done any serious town driving, but I would guess mid-teens

Z, I take it this was intended as a 335i thread? (M3's allowed due to being even worse)

We don't need to give the Dervers any more reasons to boast about their mpg.....

Swings and roundabouts I suppose, better in some areas worse in others

Your consistency makes me

The 325i is no slouch for what it is Steve-o.

Granted it's not as quick as your 335d or an RS4 (would be a silly comparison) but for what it is, it stands up for itself.

Get's me to and from parties at uni , fits people in the back for when we go on day trips, without doubt good power from my POV, puts a smile on my face when driven hard and I get lots of compliments about having one with good MPG (dependent on driving). Life is not too bad having a 325i surely

I had a MK III Escort Laser, which cost about £200 in a deal. Ran like a watch. Any new part was £5 from the scrappy, fitted in the street by myself. Could park it anywhere. Didn't worry about parking dents (typically didn't get any).

With sharing the petrol costs with the lads, and getting a small grant for travel expenses [claimed using the bus routes we should have taken] at the end of each year it didn't owe me a single penny. In fact gave me a bit of spending money in my pocket.

BMWs and students ..... no wonder they all have debts when they leave nowadays.
