I think there is an great chance that BMW don't bring the new M.35i UKL Cars with less hp as the old M135i/M235i ... 326PS from an good 2.0ltr.I4 is today no real hightech anymore!
Also 340PS like the M140i/M240i seems possible, if the new UKL M135i should not have less hp than its predecessor, because this would be bad marketing for the change to UKL and from I6 to I4. I think 300hp is simply the number for an possible new G20 335i as top non-M-model of the coming new 3er Series!? Last edited by BMW M3 CRT; 09-27-2017 at 06:33 AM.. |

As far as the chassis goes, indications are it will be CLAR, or at the very least relate closely to the G2x 4 Series (thank you ynguldyn) which will be on CLAR. CLAR will underpin every other RWD BMW and this consolidation actually saves BMW money. It is just as likely that using an updated version of the existing platform would increase costs as it is that it would decrease them. Probably more so, in fact. Quote:
Hello and welcome to BimmerPost. If you pay attention to the news coverage and read the comments, you too have inside information. And that includes this thread. Often, it’s up you to read between the lines and do some analysis, but the information is there. Are we 100%? No. But I defy you to find a more reliable source of future BMW information on the web. Sure, those are great products, but those are not 2 Series sized. The pony cars in particular are all bigger than a 4 Series, nevermind a 2 Series. The ATS is going away, but there will be a CT5, a CT4, and possibly even a CT3. The latter are actually potential alternatives, particularly if they remain RWD. It’s not known yet whether they will, however. |

Hey if you would have waited a year you could have gotten one with the S55 engine in it...
But seriously, I see yours is Atlantis Blue, so you were able to put in an Individual order? please share some details, I may be interested in something similar next year...

Because otherwise, your comment about the drivetrain of the next gen 2er means the drivetrain from the current gen 2er is unchanged, as both the coupe and cabrio are RWD with xDrive availability. So, y'know, you've gotten me curious...

What would AWD bring other than more weight and enhanced grip? I think hypothetically that they will not include the M2 with xDrive but I believe it is possible again hypothetically the M3/M4 will feature M xDrive. The M5 does well with its switchable M xDrive again it's an AWD system developed completely on BMW M's terms. Imagine what it could do for the M3/M4?

Seriously, I bought my M2 fully knowing that there is a S55 M2 coming out soon. Rumors are S55 M2 is very limited. Also I'm guessing $10k+ increase in invoice for one. Plus there is a very possible dealership mark up of $10 to even $20k. So we are looking at a limited small BMW sports coupe that's OTD $75k+.. or $90k. No thanks. Current normal M2 is honestly more than enough to be called "best M car BMW has made in the last 10 years". This car really is a lot better than what I expected and I do not need more of an M2 nor do I wish to pay more than what I paid for a car in this segment. I wrapped it myself and 3M happens to have "Atlantis Blue" in their pallet while I was searching for a color for the wrap. I was about to order an individual M3 in Atlantis Blue until I randomly found an allocation for an M2.

Audi takes TWO bites of the Apple with an A3 lineup and A4 lineup Mercedes takes TWO bites of the Apple ( the small sedan market ) with CLA lineup and the C class lineup. BMW takes one bite of the Apple and splits the bite into the 3 and 4 series. in an attempt to hold onto a sales crown Mercedes passes BMW for said crown. Lexus passes BMW ? " We don't want to cannibalize sales from our bread and butter models ... " yet opponents are taking multiple shots ! pretty stupid plan BMW. 4-7 years tooo late .. a 2 series sedan breaks cover. |

Still, BMW pays lots of smart people to run the numbers and I suppose that the "truckfication" of the US is going to continue. Does this mean we will be tearing up sections of track to create rallycross facilities for DE events? |

Some predict a passenger car resurgence as electrified powertrains start to erode the light truck CAFE advantage. Not to mention, a passenger car is typically lighter than a truck with an equivalent footprint, and lighter weight means greater electric range. If you look ahead to the automated EV future, it is possible that what we know today as the SUV starts to look more like a wagon or hatchback passenger car. Not such a farfetched possibility when you compare a 1992 Ford Explorer to today's model. Sure, its still a truck, but its very far removed from its Ford Ranger roots. One future evolutionary step could be to get rid of the mostly superfluous truck-like form factor and chassis componentry. |
