Delays in production are normal. Better issues be fixed before it leaves assembly line.

Which is more pleasant? Waiting for parts and warranty work, or waiting on your couch?

Good! Leaves more time for my M4 lease to tick away. Add on another year maybe for the CSL, could be a fit for me.

Let me explain that "random post".

I'm in in the research for infos to the topic "BMW M2" since the M235i has been presented in spring 2014. I try to get every info I can get, filter these infos and make the infos, which I think could matter, public. Thats the reason why I made the BMW M2 page on facebook. To inform the guys, who want this ******** car so badly (like Artemis and Adem do this in this forum).

And at the moment every piece of (negative) info fits together (when watching on the latest infos/rumours): Production date isn't set anymore for NOV 15 in the systems, at the same time a well known member of the m-forum is posting that release footage will be made in spring 16 (and he didn't know that the date for production was deleted in the system) and today another member of the m-forum said that in history BMW has never presented a car study (especially M) at the IAA.

... we have to wait and see what happens but its not looking too good that the M2 will be presented in the next month ...

Not everyone is going to believe a bunch of info posted on here about the M2,when people are not showing any proof of what they are posting.I'm not saying that what you are posting isn't true but who knows if the production date has changed for sure.Is anyone posting a dealer bulletin showing this?No one has posted anything.People are going to be skeptical about this stuff until something is confirmed by BMW.

I'd prefer to not have to deal with snow in Germany etc., so the later in spring the better.
Hoping to get an M2 with European Delivery.

Some forum fellows over here might know more than what they post.

If particular info is leaked that BMW definitely does not want to be leaked, BMW may decide to track/trace the source of the leak.

Two examples:
  • pre-production G11 730d pictures that leaked in December 2014: the car was in transit and an employee of the cargo company shot some unflattering pictures, which ended up on the Internet; SCOTT26 hinted that BMW was not amused and had taken steps to identify the author of those pictures;
  • java green "Green Mamba" 1M factory picture that leaked in June 2012: pictures were shot inside the Leipzig factory and ended up in the hands of the owner, supposed to be for his eyes only; however, the owner enthusiastically released at least one of those (Individual 1M); another person, most likely a BMW employee, complained about the owner's initiative, pointing out that the pictures he got were not supposed to be published, that publication could compromise taking future factory pictures and that any such initiative puts jobs of employees at stake (see the exchange of comments between "George71" and "green mamba" over here); it is not known whether BMW itself equally complained.

So if it comes out sooner, they won't produce any in the late spring?

Agreed completely. I'm on the same boat.

We've gotten so much misinformation for the past year that I'm done trying to speculate on these things.

I'm just not worried about this car anymore. As badly as I want to see it, it'll show up when it shows up. At least we've got other cars to enjoy so it's not like I absolutely need it by a certain date.

My theory is that BMW has needed to do more development on the engine in order to up the bhp given the power war with Audi, Merc and even VW. They were in danger of launching a slightly under powered car relative to the competition ? I think production start early 2016 now. Nothing to back this up but it has been too quiet from Scott and co

Who knows. If the car needs a bit more development time, so be it.
And a delay before the announcement is better than a delay after the announcement (*cough*Audi S3*cough*).

No, the M3/M4 is and remains the Holy Grail. They won't let the M2 get too deep into the M3/M4 comfort zone, regardless of what the competition provides.

I agree but I think BMW accomplish both if they really wanted to.

Lets face it many M3/M4 (not all mind you) are bought with all the luxurious options the M3/M4 offer. HUD, full leather dash, etc. If you go on the M4 section 90% of the people pick these options.

So if BMW makes a pretty standard M2 interior wise as just offering navigation and manual only than the people who originally wanted the M4 will still buy an M4 regardless of the M2 being faster or as fast as the M4 IMO.

That's why if the M2 CSL ever comes out I will need to get that car as this kind of car targets what I am looking for in a car.

I for one do not care about having a leather dash, radar cruise, HUD, etc. I just want a drivers car that handles very very well with no fluff to distract the driver.

Not really, unless you are purely looking at the Golf R400. Everything else was on par with what the engine was supposed to make aka 370ish HP.

Besides, if there was a power war, then the car that shouldn't join the fight would be the M2. I'd much prefer all out balance, which IMO the M2 should have over its competitors.

Yes, and BMW 365HP really means 385-400HP. Does anyone know if Mercedes plays the underatted game? They are bumping the CLA/GLA to 375HP...is that really 375 or is it an underatted 375?

All the Germans play this underrated game, but I think the BMWs might be the most guilty.

Just like the M2 CSL rumor, I'm not sure I buy this one either. Guess we'll find out soon enough
