Exclamation Software update not working

I have a similar experience to those on the 3 Series forum https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=30170321 where my F40 isn't updating it's software.

I was notified in the MyBMW app that there's an update to version 3/2023.50 (currently running 07/2022.58). The update is downloaded to the MyBMW app and then uploaded to the car successfully. However the car never asks to install this update (car is parked, fully charged battery as it's driven most days and longer trips too).

Anyone else having the same issues?

Yes, I've had the same problem in my F40 M135iX (already on update 11/2022). It apparently started the final installation but then stopped and reported a failure, with no clue as to the problem. I have a visit to the dealer scheduled for next week and I'll ask them to sort it.

Let us know how you go. I'll get my dealer to update on its next visit. BMW appear to be generations behind Tesla in terms of software updates/features. Not a big issue for me, but this appears an area they could really improve.

No luck so far. At my recent appointment they got confused between a map update for the NAV (which I always manage to do myself) and the failed software upgrade. Decided they couldn't do it. Next try in a few weeks, and I'll write them a short essay on how to do their job.

I managed to get the update to go through by doing the following. Not sure if it is a "fix"
- made sure all fault codes were erased using BimmerLink.
- on the headunit I went to settings > general settings > data privacy > no service.
After this, the update will disappear from the menu and after a while the " search for upgrades" will become available.
Download the update and make sure battery is topped up with a long drive.
It installed instantly for me, even the car was hot and it went through.

Finally sorted, no thanks to the dealer's service dept. After a couple of instances when the battery just went flat after a journey, I called BMW Roadside Assist. The very knowledgeable tech found that the battery was dying and the car, quite sensibly, refused to apply an update. He swapped in a new battery and the failed update 03/2303.50 immediately reappeared and worked OK.
